The West Country / Somerset region
Situated close to the bustling seaside towns of Burnham and Western-super-mare and the glorious Cheddar gorge; the medieaval market town of Axbridge is a great place to relax and unwind however you choose to.
For the historian the area is dotted with fabulous buildings and sites of interest.
For the more adventurous there is great walking, horse riding, golf, fishing, rock climbing, caving, mountain biking, and many more outdoor pursuits.
Finally, a day out at the seaside topped off by a trip to the local cider farm is a great way to pass a day.
Axbridge / Cross area
Moorland house sits on the edge of a large tract of national trust administered land (with free access) in an area of outstanding natural beauty.
The village was home to Frankie Howerd and his home if open to the public for a small charitable donation most weekends through the summer.
The town of Axbridge is a short walk away and is well worth a visit for the town square with both the historic merchants house (now a museum) King Johns Hunting Lodge and 15th C Church of St Johns. Also in Axbridge are some great places to eat and drink.
Nearby are the vibrant cities of Bristol (25 mins), Bath (35 mins) and Wells(15 mins); Wookey hole (15 mins); Glastonbury (20 mins) and Cheddar Gorge (5 mins). Also close is the Clarks shopping village in Street (25 mins).
How to get there
Leave the M5 at Junction 22. Follow signs for Cheddar Gorge. Carry on north along the A38 towards Bristol, and after about 9 miles you enter Cross. Turn left at the New Inn pub onto Old Coach Road where the property can be found on the right hand side 100 yards before the White Hart public house.
