A beautiful and fully equipped Old English Townhouse situated in The Square of the medieval Somerset town of Axbridge. Dating in parts back to the 16th century, it abounds with character internally including exposed beams and timbers, and plenty of period features, There is a wood burner in the sitting room, slate tiled floors to the ground floor and stripped wood latch doors throughout, yet is still benefits from the modern conveniances visitors expect including gas burner in the breakfast room, TV with video / DVD, and stereos / CD players in all four bedrooms. Step outside and you are in the heart of the town with Inns and Restaurants right on your doorstep.
Axbridge is situated at the foot of the The Mendip Hills in the heart of Somerset and is an ideal base for walkers and tourists alike. The popular tourist destination of Cheddar, with its famous caves, gorge and Jacobs ladder, is only 3 miles away. The cathedral city of Wells is just a 20 minute drive. The seaside towns of Weston-super-Mare and Burnham-on-Sea are both only 10 miles away making Axbridge a great base for any kind of holiday.

Axbridge area

Set in an area of outstanding natural beauty, the Mendip Hills offer great walks and are right on the doorstep. Nearby Cheddar has been a popular tourist destination for many years with its famous caves, gorge and Jacobs Ladder. The medieval town of Axbridge has the historic King Johns Hunting Lodge and 15th C Church of St Johns. The cathedral city of Wells is 15 minutes away and Glastonbury and Street both a similar distance. Slightly further a field but both within easy travelling distance are Bristol and Bath and the seaside towns of Weston Super Mare and Burnham On Sea are both only twelve miles away. Axbridge is a great base from which to explore the Somerset and North Somerset area.

How to get there

Cheap flights are available into Bristol Airport, which is a short drive of 20 minutes away. Car Hire and Taxis are available from the airport. Alternative airports in the area are Exeter, Cardiff and Southampton
