The city walls of almost 5 kms surround a wealth of monuments and historic buildings: The Pope's Palace, with walls 4 metres thick and up to 50 metres high, The 12th century Cathedral of Notre-Dame, The Pont Saint Benezet, well known from the old nursery song 'Sur le pont'. the Musee Calvet housing antiques, sculptures and a wonderful collection of paintings.
The famous Avignon Festival takes place throughout July each year.

Arrived late morning on the Saturday, took over the apartment and it was spotlessly clean, Clare was very welcoming. There is nothing I would change regarding the apartment, it is in the best location for restaurants and shops and the Pope's Palace and full of character. We felt at home from the moment we arrived. My only grumble, and it is a small one, is that the Supermarket was a good 10 minute walk away and as we didn't hire a car it seemed a fair distance to carry heavy bags. Les Halles indoor market is well worth a visit. I would recommend this apartment to anyone. A memorable holiday. |

Guestbook for Rue Balance
“Your apartment is wonderful! It has such a serene atmosphere and the location can't be bettered. It is right on the doorstep of the “Palais de Papes” and one of the best restaurants in Avignon is only 100 yards away. We will be back next year.” – Mr. A. & Mrs. J. Crowther, Market Bosworth.
Just a quick note to say how much we enjoyed our stay in Avignon. The apartment was superb and really did have everything - one of the best we've ever rented. W+K Troup. 2008.
We arrived last night after a month in Avignon. We had a first rate break enjoying the town and surrounds and the flat was first class and beautifully maintained - one of the best we have ever stayed at over almost 30 years. Thanks should also go to Claire who helped make the stay a pleasure. T. Stewart
