The Scottish Highlands region
The Scottish Highlands covers a large area with a more rural feel than other parts of Scotland. It is famous for it's Mountains, Whisky Distilleries and is hosts one of the best sports/outdoor recreational areas. Aviemore is in the heart of the Cairngorm National Park and as such is a perfect base for exploring all that the area has to offer. The big city of Inverness is only 30 mins away by car and yet 30 mins in the other direction you hit the outdoor mountain heaven that is the Cairngorms.
Aviemore is one of the largest towns in the Cairngorm National Park, with a population of 2,397. Nestling in the shadow of the Cairngorm Mountains and gateway to the National Park, this renowned all year round holiday resort offers a unique variety of attractions and activities. There is something for everyone whether you are looking for exhilarating adventure holiday or relaxing break.
The Cairngorm area is the ideal place for outdoor activities. Apart from the mountains themselves, there's also the Glenmore Forest Park to explore, watersports on Loch Morlich and Loch Insh, plus fishing, skiing, cycling and golf. Aviemore provides the perfect place to base an outdoor holiday providing snowboarding to kayaking, quad biking to clay pigeon shooting and a range of unbelievably beautiful walks almost everywhere you go. The Cairngorm Ranger Service operates a programme of walks starting from the Ranger Base (located in the Mountain Railway Base Station) at Coire Cas. The Rothiemurchus Estate welcomes visitors with something for everyone, including a fish farm, guided walks, safari tours, clay pigeon shooting and lots more. Naturally, walking is very popular, with walks of all grades, notably at lower level in the Rothiemurchus pinewoods. For that rainy day, the Leisure centre at Macdonald Highland Resort has a swimming pool with wave machine and flume. It also hosts a techno gym and games room and has beauty/therapy treatments for that holiday treat.

"Beautiful House In A Stunning Location"
We stayed at Carn Avie House for one week with my partner and my two children aged 11 and 15.
The house was absolutely beautiful, well equipped and we did not want to leave! Aviemore is stunning, as are the surrounding areas and waking up to beautiful scenery just sets your day off perfectly.
Although the house was slightly awkward to find (as it is such a new housing estate that there are no street name plates up yet) there was a plaque on the house that stated we were in the right place.
The house was spotless on arrival and we were pleasantly surprised to find new sponges, tea towels, washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets waiting for us. Something we usually have to bring ourselves.
The kids enjoyed the WiFi and Sky Movies when we had to stay in during the bad weather, as a lot of roads were flooded and shut. So this was very welcomed!
The only negative thing I can say about our stay was the tin opener did not work properly, which left our tuna pasta salad very tuna-less! We did try to source another tin opener from the local shops but it seems there was a run on tin openers that week!
Overall, we had a fantastic stay and I can not recommend this property enough and it is very likely we will be staying here again at some point in the future.

"Wonderful time in the Spey Valley"
We have stayed in the Spey Valley area at least once a year since 1972. The house is situated on a new estate north of the A9. Access is via the main road through Aviemore. It is very well situated if you want the benefits of a town and the solitude of the wilderness on your doorstep. The centre of Aviemore with its shops and restaurants is within easy walking distance. The local area has plenty do, visiting Cairngorm mountain, the local RSPB reserves, good areas for walking for all abilities, the Moray Firth and its Dolphins. The house is well equipped and has a ground floor bedroom ideal for those with mobility issues

"Good accommodation in a great part of the world"
This was our third time staying at Carn Avie - it has everything you need for a home away from home. It's clean, comfortable and situated in a nice area. It's a bit further out of town than other rentals but there are pleasant walks into town if you don't want to drive or cycle. All in all we liked the house and love Aviemore

"Perfect holiday house"
A newly built house on the outskirts of Aviemore. The walk into the centre would probably take you about 20 minutes, but would not put me off. The house had all you would need for a week away including plenty of cupboard storage space. The lounge could have done with an extra lamp rather than using the main ceiling light, and the kitchen needed a coffee machine. Those are my personal needs but would not put me off renting the property again.
If you have not been to Aviemore before you should visit. The area has a lot to offer, a must for the kids is Landmark in Carrbridge. Various types of water sports including Kayaking on several lakes. The Highland wildlife park has 2 Polar Bears in the UK and for a cheap and interesting day out would be to the Highland folk museum. All in all, what ever season the house was great.

"Great house, very clean well furnished and good base"
the house was great nicely furnished and very clean. Had great facilities, only small snag was there was no high chair or travel cot which let it down slightly.
