Home description
Chateau des Villes is in a remote country setting far away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The Chateau des Villes, in the middle of Burgundy, 60km from Beaune, lies in the visually stunning nature park of the Morvan hills. The parkland and setting of the estate is said to be one of the earlier examples of the work of André le Notre, famous for his designs of Versailles and Chantilly.
The Chateau des Villes is a private and extravagantly stylish luxury home, formerly the playground of the French aristocracy. Recently re-decorated and renovated it has sumptuous rooms with fine bed-linen, private bathrooms, period furniture, elaborate drapery & luxury bedrooms with light and panoramic views.

The Burgundy / Saone-et-Loire region
We are pleased to say that our location and facilities allow us to offer many different activities for you – whether you seek nature, history, culinary delights or relaxation.
First and foremost, your visit to the chateau would not be complete if you didn’t take the time to experience the beauty of the natural environment in which it is surrounded. 1000’s of hectares of unspoilt countryside surround this area and the combination of flat and hilly areas make it an ideal place to go cycling, jogging, walking, mushroom and escargot finding, wildlife studying etc. Our parkland consists of many mature and beautiful trees shading most natural paths and making your activity easy even on the hottest days.
In addition to the stunning natural environment you may engage in man-made activities such as swimming, golf, horseback riding, ballooning, fishing, flying, day trips to chateaux, Roman churches or picturesque villages etc. We can arrange these activities upon request with our partners in nearby farms or villages.
Autun area
You may also indulge in other activities such as. • Wine tasting and purchasing. There are many famous vineyards within easy driving distance of our chateau. A list can be provided on request. • Shopping for Antiques/Brocantes in the nearby villages (i.e. Autun, Nolay, Chalon sur Saone, Bourbon Lancy, Nevers). Brocantes are usually held on Sundays and some on Saturdays. A list of dates and locations can be provided. • Visiting local food markets in the neighboroughing picturesque villages. So far, the best local food market is in Autun and is held on Wednesday and Friday mornings. • Visiting a variety of Museums. A famous one is the museum of Saptenat where a previous president of France has his international gifts displayed. Or see the Lycee Bonaparte where Napoleon and his brothers where educated. In the stunning and unspoilt Burgundy countryside we offer unique and exciting shooting and hunting on small and large game.

Guestbook
"A legend has been born because of your efforts; thank you that we could participate in this fairy-tale."
"For a long time we had been hearing about the chateau and its sympathetic owners. Now we have our own stories to tell about this fairy-tale spot in the hills, woods, fields, farms, wildlife and friendly locals. The atmosphere of this place, the dinners, and fine wines, we will continue to taste in our mind for a long time."
"After our arrival we were surprised again and again. The hospitality and your natural ability to make strangers feel welcome are unique. The domain is of unknown beauty. A pearl in an oyster; so real and pure."
