Le Diamant Noir offers beautiful accommodation in a tastefully furnished and extremely well-equipped, self-contained garden apartment- L'Amandier, having attained a coveted 4 star grading. We are situated 1km from the market town of Aups - an easy walk. A typical Provencal town, Aups offers all the necessary amenities with shops, restaurants, cafes, a wealth of history and its twice weekly market, brimming over with the local produce of the surrounding area.

A swimming pool, in a lovely garden, shared with our one-bedroomed apartment, is available for those hot days - swimming towels provided.

Ample off- road parking is at your disposal. Evening meals are available on request, as are picnics for those days in the beautiful countryside. " Ready meals" are also available for your convenience to eat at home on your private terraces after a day of exploration.

Because of our geographical location and proximity to the Gorges du Verdon and the Lac Sainte Croix there are numerous outdoor pursuits for those who are actively minded. White water sports to include rafting canyoning and kayaking are available along with sailing and fishing. Climbing, hiking, horse riding and mountain biking are available in the area.

This attractively decorated, light and airy one floor garden apartment has two comfortable bedrooms, with generous wardrobes. One bedroom has a double bed and hand-painted furniture in provencal style and the other twin beds. A large, tiled shower room also houses a washing machine for your convenience. The fully equipped kitchen with microwave, cooker, hob, oven, dishwasher, fridge-freezer and various utensils, leads on to a dining area and sitting area with TV and DVD player. There is also a CD player. French doors open on to a covered terrace, providing an outdoor living space for al fresco dining. A gas barbecue and tools are provided for outdoor cooking. Garden furniture is provided for realxation on your own private terrace and in your own garden area, where you can find shade from the heat of the day and also enjoy the warm provencal evenings with a glass of local rosé

We try to think of everything to make your holiday a success apart from making sure that the apartment is well-equipped we provide a service to offer a shopping pack on arrival and a menu of home- made meals made from the finest local Provencal ingredients

L'Amandier has its own little garden area with a gas barbecue provided. A short path through our oak trees and lavender leads to the swimming pool which is surrounded with hibiscus shrubs for colourful privacy. There are sun loungers and parasols around the pool so that everyone has the oppoertunity to relax accompanied by the wonderful butterflies which frequent the buddleia bushes

We have a small boules pitch and offer table tennis in the garden for family fun.

The property is enclosed within a secure remote controlled gate and offers ample secure parking just outside the apartments.
Each apartment has its own remote control for the opening of the gates from the comfort of your car

The swimming pool is alarmed with equipment that meets French Security standards. Each apartment has its own remote control for the operation of the pool alarm.

The Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur / Var region

The Parc du Verdon is situated in the PACA ( Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur) region of the South of France.
The scenery is beautiful and this is true Provence a world away from the hustle and bustle of the coast, although only an hour away.

The climate is superb for a holiday- hot sunny days but cooler evenings as a result of the altitude at 500m.
For those wanting to avoid the school holiday rush, June and September are lovely months- the weather is warm and places are not so busy.

Aups is an authentic Provençal market town and people come from miles around to share the productivity of the Provençal soil and local craftspeople at the twice weekly market.

Take a seat at a street café and absorb the atmosphere, the hustle and bustle of the morning´s business before a long gastronomic lunch and relaxing afternoon, the clink of the boules as pétanque is played enthusiastically under the shade of the plane trees.

Take a stroll through the old streets steeped in history.

The varied landscapes dotted with aromatic herbs and the purple clad-lavender fields are inhabited by honey−producing bees. Cepes and morilles along with the coveted black truffle − "le diamant noir" are among the fruits of the oak forests.
A weekly truffle market is held in Aups during the winter months, where the chefs source the truffles for the tables of the Riviera.

All amenities are available in the town.

A 20minute drive takes you to the Lac Sainte Croix and the Gorges Du Verdon. The scenery is spectacular and the location ideal for a family day out. -Watersposts are available on the lake and in the river Verdon.

A comfortable 10minute walk from the village- Le Diamant Noir is ideally situated.

The Aups area

"Le Diamant Noir" is situated in the Verdon National Park.

Although you need go no further than our local, historic town of Aups for a taste of Provence and its famous truffle market, we are in a region of extreme natural beauty with a wealth of flora and fauna for nature lovers.

Villages in the area include Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, Tourtour, Salernes, Flayosc, Villecroze, Carcès,Cotignac.

Situated in the foothills of the Alps we are surrounded by incredible scenery, from fortified medieval hill-top villages to the magnificent Gorges Du Verdon, the largest canyon in Europe. The Lac St Croix provides a base for many watersports. The lavender plateau of Valensole is only a short drive away.

Surrounded by local producers there are gastronomic delights at every corner, not forgetting many hectares of vineyards and the wine-tasting experience.

Both the Alpes of Haute Provence and the resorts of the Côte d´Azur, such as St Tropez, Antibes, Cannes and Nice are easily accessible by car.

A two hour drive will take you on a journey through spectacular scenery to the source of the Verdon River at the Val d´Allos − also a ski resort in winter.
