La Truffière is one of three individually styled apartments at Le Diamant Noir, on the edge of Aups, the capital of the Haut Var region of Provence.
Situated at 505m above sea level, in the lower foothills of the alps, Aups, an authentic Provencal market town, is 60km from the coast and 80km from the ski slopes with a healthy climate-dry and temperate offering ideal vacation conditions. Aups is the Southern gateway to the Gorges Du Verdon - known for its picturesque scenery and many sporting activities. The Lac de Sainte Croix providing watersports and the Valensole lavender plateau are a short drive away.
Ideally loacted for a holiday Le Diamant Noir is an easy walk from the centre of Aups which offers all the necessary amenities, boasting shops, cafes, restaurants, a wealth of history and its twice weekly market, brimming over with the local produce of the surrounding area. During winter months there is also the famous weekly black truffle market.
Situated in a private residence, with ample off-road parking at your disposal, la Truffière offers accommodation designed for 21st century living
The beautiful gardens are at your disposal along with the swimming pool for that refreshing dip on long summer days.
There is also table tennis and a small boulodrome for outdoor fun.
Two of the gites are next door to each other so it is possible to rent both together if you have a larger party.
Bed and breakfast facilities are available. Evening meals, cooked from fresh, local produce are available on request, with pre-booking, as are picnics to take with you on those days when you explore the beautiful surrounding countryside.
Whether you want to spend a relaxing holiday , enjoying the climate of the South of France, or you want to be more active there are lots of things to do in the area.

This is our purposely designed studio apartment with one bedroom, providing a pied à terre in Provence for the discerning couple. This accommodation has been designed for 21st century holiday living.
The bedroom, in romantic French style, can be made up with a large double or twins allowing flexibility. Bedside tables and lamps are provided, along with a dressing table, hair-drier, and clothes storage.
High quality bed-linen is provided to include quilts from Marinette of St Tropez. Towels are provided.
The bathroom houses a "douche italienne" with pebbled, mosaic tile floor and glass door, wc, sink unit with storage, heated towel rail and full length mirror. There is also a utility corner with washing machine and cupboard for the ironing board and vacuum cleaner.
The living space provides a full kitchen, with ceramic hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, kettle, fridge-freezer and a comprehensive set of pans and utensils for all your culinary needs. There is a complete range of crockery and glasses, table mats, etc. Indoor meals can be enjoyed at the breakfast bar. A comfortable sofa is provided for relaxation. Wifi internet access, Satellite TV, Bluray DVD player with USB port and ipod/phone docking station are available for your use in the sitting area.
French doors lead out onto a generous terrace, perfect for dining in the shade, with table and chairs provided. Garden furniture is supplied for your relaxation outdoors. A gas barbecue and tools are also provided to enjoy outdoor living to the full.
La Truffière has the benefit of reverse-air conditioning.
A short walk through the pretty grounds leads to the swimming pool, where sun loungers are provided for you to enjoy the sunshine.

Each "gîte" has its own terrace and private garden area, supplied with outdoor furniture, and screened for privacy. A woodland pathway, edged with lavender, and butterfly-attracting buddleia, leads to the pool, which is at our guests' disposal, with sun-loungers and parasols provided. The pool is screened by hibiscus bushes which flower throughout the summer. In order to meet French safety requirements the pool is alarmed, with each apartment being supplied with its own remote control and full instructions.
In the grounds we provide table tennis and a small boulodrome for family fun. A picnic table at the edge of our wooded area is provided for mid-tournament refreshments! A shaded, vine-clad pergola is the perfect provençal setting for al fresco dining and provides the venue for our popular, weekly BBQ evenings during the summer months.

Security Deposit of €300. This will be refunded after departure when the property has been thoroughly checked over and any utilities, damage or breakages have been deducted.

The Parc du Verdon is situated in the PACA ( Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur) region of the South of France.
The scenery is beautiful and this is true Provence a world away from the hustle and bustle of the coast, although only an hour away.
The climate is superb for a holiday- hot sunny days but cooler evenings as a result of the altitude at 500m.
For those wanting to avoid the school holiday rush, June and September are lovely months- the weather is warm and places are not so busy.
Aups is an authentic Provençal market town and people come from miles around to share the productivity of the Provençal soil and local craftspeople at the twice weekly market.
Take a seat at a street café and absorb the atmosphere, the hustle and bustle of the morning´s business before a long gastronomic lunch and relaxing afternoon, the clink of the boules as pétanque is played enthusiastically under the shade of the plane trees.
Take a stroll through the old streets steeped in history.
The varied landscapes dotted with aromatic herbs and the purple clad-lavender fields are inhabited by honey−producing bees. Cepes and morilles along with the coveted black truffle − "le diamant noir" are among the fruits of the oak forests.
A weekly truffle market is held in Aups during the winter months, where the chefs source the truffles for the tables of the Riviera.
All amenities are available in the town.
A 20minute drive takes you to the Lac Sainte Croix and the Gorges Du Verdon. The scenery is spectacular and the location ideal for a family day out. -Watersposts are available on the lake and in the river Verdon.
A comfortable 10minute walk from the village- Le Diamant Noir is ideally situated.
The Aups area
"Le Diamant Noir" is situated in the Verdon National Park.
Although you need go no further than our local, historic town of Aups for a taste of Provence and its famous truffle market, we are in a region of extreme natural beauty with a wealth of flora and fauna for nature lovers.
Villages in the area include Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, Tourtour, Salernes, Flayosc, Villecroze, Carcès,Cotignac.
Situated in the foothills of the Alps we are surrounded by incredible scenery, from fortified medieval hill-top villages to the magnificent Gorges Du Verdon, the largest canyon in Europe. The Lac St Croix provides a base for many watersports. The lavender plateau of Valensole is only a short drive away.
Surrounded by local producers there are gastronomic delights at every corner, not forgetting many hectares of vineyards and the wine-tasting experience.
Both the Alpes of Haute Provence and the resorts of the Côte d´Azur, such as St Tropez, Antibes, Cannes and Nice are easily accessible by car.
A two hour drive will take you on a journey through spectacular scenery to the source of the Verdon River at the Val d´Allos − also a ski resort in winter.

The gite is small but very comfortable and equipped to a high standard. Everything is very new, clean and well cared for. The owners are friendly, helpful and available without being intrusive. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. |
