Le Poirier has spectacular views over the surrounding forests and lake and accommodates up to eight people in three bedrooms, open plan living/dining room and kitchen with all modern conveniences, and a large garden, balcony and terrace.

Le Poirier is ideally situated to enjoy a range of activities from watersports in the nearby Lac de Sainte-Croix, to hiking in France's 'grand canyon', the Gorges du Verdon, as well as relaxing in numerous local restaurants.

In the local village of Bauduen, two kilometres away from Le Poirier, there are three restaurants, two shops and a weekly market on Sundays. The village has musical events most weekends in July and August, as well as tennis courts, pedalo, sailing and canoe hire facilities. Bauduen is situated on the Lac de Sainte-Croix, which has many little beaches dotted around its shoreline. The nearest town, Aups, eight kilometres away from Le Poirier, boasts a range of restaurants and two supermarkets.

On the ground floor the house has three double bedrooms - two leading on to a terrace - a shower room and utility room.

Upstairs there is a large open plan living/dining room and kitchen leading on to a large balcony that affords views over the lake and forests. There is also a second bathroom on the first floor.

For outdoor eating and drinking, the balcony on the first floor is a huge 3 x 9 metres, while the terrace downstairs is partly covered. Both have tables and chairs.

Two bedrooms have double beds and one has two singles. There are also two children's foldaway beds. The living room has a television which receives some French TV and BBC World, a DVD player and portable CD/cassette/radio. The kitchen is equipped with a dishwasher, fridge, electric oven and hob and all the usual utensils. The utility room has a sink, washing machine and an extra fridge to store the local wine. The house also has central heating for the winter months.

Bedroom 1 from the terraceThe garden is on three levels and slopes down towards the woods. It has the sunshine all day but there are plenty of shady spots, where you can sit under a tree or swing in a hammock

Family friendly

We welcome families with young children and can provide a cot and stair guard free of charge. The villa has two large terraces with railings, which act as huge play pens for toddlers. We also have some toys for toddlers.

As there is no pool, you don't have to worry about accidents. However, to cool off, there is a shallow, sectioned off area of the lake at nearby Bauduen and Les Salles, which has a life-guard in the summer. With sunny days all year, the villa is an ideal place to go with young children out of season.

"Lac de St. Croix - best place to stay"

This was our third trip to the Lac de St. Croix. this time we stayed at Le Poirier near Bauduen - therefore we know the whole area and the distances.

The vacational rental was easy to find. Solely the final acces road to the home was not usable for our car - Volkswagen Multivan. The surounding is very quit and located on a hill with a nice view on a part of the lake. We often used the terrace to sit in the warm evening sun of the provence. Also the tabel tennis table is a funny amusement.

The wohle area is appropriate for hikers, cyclists, joggers, canoeist etc. etc.

You have to visit the following cities - Bauduen (easy access to the lake, nice market), Aups (lovley tiny town, supermarktes and a very good pizza restautrant), Auigiunes (access to the Verdon canyon with the best restaurant of the area - Rive Gauche, best view of the whole lake), Moustiers (historical village with the famous golden star between the hills). Normally every single town in the area is worth to be visited.

A must have is a hike through the Verdon Canoyn or high above. There are so many routes but if you are using google you will find them.

Overall, this was not our last visit to this lovely place.
