Both are set in a quiet rural setting with farmland & 2 large lakes all in close proximity. A Modern neat open plan /dining room fully equipped for up to 6 people with all modern appliances and utilities. The living room, has a magnificent 30m corridor with high ceilings and oak beams.
Plenty of natural light pours in from the many skylights above. There is also the capacity to allocate this as an additional bedroom each night. The dining room provides delightful view of the water front from this room which also has a mezzanine, above which is great for the kids to sleep too.
Bed linen is provided F.O.C as are hand towels, but please bring your own bath towels.
Further details outdoors:
A short walk to the front of Ebenezer Mansions from Hidden Gem, there are additional parking bays, grassed areas and shared picnic tables.
This courtyard was formally an artists studio, you can see why, with the views of the surrounding hills and farmland and the meandering streams leading to the two large lakes just five minutes from the villa.
There are at least 4 bicycles (Suitable for teenagers). However, please bring your own safety equipment, such as helmets and lights.
Fishing is possible as there are two large lakes, which I know have brown trout, though, please note, a fishing licence is required. This town offers many convenient past-times like Archery and there is even horse-riding about 5Km away. The owner, Isabel, has gone out of her way to allow both the novice and experienced riders to use the excellent facilities in all weathers.
The drive in area at the front has just being divided to make it as car free as possible. One of the benefits of this is that we can now take advantage of the sun from this aspect of the property. Therefore, outdoor table and chairs are available for use here.
Further details
We'd love to encourage smaller families to visit this Pretty part of France especially outside the school Holiday Season.
As an incentive to come and explore this remarkable region of France. Now, you can get a great discount of 5% at off-peak periods- that's only £380! More details are given with the terms & conditions and the booking form.
Rental payments are due in full 8 weeks in advance. Booking deposits are 25% of the weeks rental fee and these are non refundable but can be transferred to another date if cancelled.
Exclusive for Summer 2012. Our rates have returned to the 2010 launch price of £460 for a week in High season! We're pleased to say, this is now inclusive of the utility charges, (water /electrics). We've decided to do this because we found with running a highly energy efficient home, the average total costs, when split to 50% were really quite small. However, this excludes central heating, which is charged at £15 per day, There is also a charge of £50 for the cleaning. Both are normally taken from the security deposit of £200 cash which is due to be paid on arrival.
Bed linen is provided F.O.C as are hand towels.

The Normandy / Seine-Maritime region

Normandy is made up of five rich and varied counties:- Seine maritime, Eure, Orne, Calvados and Manche. Aumale is within the Seine maritime region of Normandy, approximately, two hours from Paris. In-between the seine valley and channel coast, famous for its dramatic cliff lines, rolling open countryside and the twist and turns of the River Seine. We are on the border of the Picardy region:
Normandy, with its proximity to Paris for Disneyland together with a number of fashionable seaside resorts like Dieppe, Hornflour or Tourville along its coast indicate that this region has everything you could wish for; Etretat, Fecamp and Dieppe are three of the coastal areas well worth a mention.
Dieppe is a gem of a town. Famous for its Saturday morning market. Many of the streets in the old town just have to be explored. A majority of these are pedestrianised and it is delightful to view the historic buildings dating back to the17th century on foot. ...soaking in the atmosphere created by an abundance of timbered houses and huge chateaux set in the circuit of a glorious medieval past.
People who have stayed here have been to visit the historical world war II sites in Mont St Michel, Vimy and the Somme. Locally, towns like Rouen and Amiens, are truly places of inspiration. Indeed, Rouen, is known as the jewel in the crown -considered to be the capital of upper Normandy- Itself only half an hours drive from Aumale. The neighbouring county of Picardy (Picardie) also has long sandy beaches by the Somme estuary in the west.
The Aumale area
Aumale is a very popular base with Parisians, especially for the beach!
Quiet a historic town itself, with many of the half-timbered houses so characteristic in this region. It's not surprising then that you won't find a single charity shop in the town-it has a diverse range of specality shops like patisserie bakeries, butchers, delicatessens and an anglers accessories shop, which by the way sells the fishing licence (~5 Euros per day).
There seems to have been a deliberate choice to place the only supermarket (Intermarche) just outside town. A tourist office in the centre will keep you updated as to what is going on in the locality.
We are pleasantly amazed by the different things we find to do here. During the summer we found an archery club just near the two lakes and by the villa. We located a delightful horse riding school three miles from Aumale-They have been more than willing to take on the novice rider!
During Summer, we learnt that Aumale has a public heated Open Air Pool in the town centre. The nearest Indoor pools are in the towns of Formarie ~15km away and Grandvillers 20Km-this town has a larger indoor pool.
There is a Quad Biking arena not far from the town.
Eating out in Aumale is affordable as it not only has a pizza and Turkish Kebab restaurant in the centre but there is another pizza place just behind the Ebenezer which is set by the waterfront. This same country road also leads into the town centre.

By Sea and Car.
With more cross channel ferry routes than any other region, Normandy is a real gateway to France. Aumale is ideally located for the long or short breaks by car to France, being so close to the major motorway network of the A28 /A29. The Channel crossing is easy from either Dover to Calais with P+ O ferries. We have recently switched to using the Eurotunnel service which is quicker to access and also slightly nearer.
From Calais , the journey via the (A16), motorway is both quick and comfortable to Aumale. However, do bear in mind that from Calais there is a toll to pay of ~ 8 euros.
Or, Newhaven to Dieppe via LD lines, will save you about 30km each way, off the mileage, which was our preferred option being only 50mins away, and the 4hr crossing gives you a great chance to rest, especially in one of their cabins which easily accommodates families! The one draw-back with them is that they charge per person! See www.transmancheferries.com.

By Air. Fly/drive:
We've now had people from Scotland (The Highlands), Norway, Canada and Australia visit us. Using Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport. As a result we have now developed contacts at car-hire companies at this airport, which you may wish to use to make your choice more reliable. We'll even loan you a Sat Nav, that we guarantee will make exploring in France a breeze as all the tourist places are listed.
Beauvais airport is less than 1hrs drive (53km) from Aumale. This is especially useful to people visiting us from Glasgow.
By Train
Similarly, local trains (SNCF) go from Beauvais to Aumale. Equally, there are daily and regular links from Paris. See www.scnf.com.
However, We would recommend driving to the outskirts of Paris, then take the local train service (RER) to explore Paris because of the cost and time element. There are deals available, for example, that will let you use both the RER and Metro services plus visit the top 55 attractions in Paris ( for a two day pass) costing just 80 euros.
We'll happily advise you of the best drive / train locations to do this. Aumale is perfectly situated on the A28 to make this just a direct drive to Paris 120km.

We've continued to make this wonderful Cottage even more comfortable for our guests. However, the cost for the utilities,(water and electrics) has been incorporated into this price. Where oil is being used for heating, during the colder months there is still a daily charge of £15 per day. There is also a compulsory cleaning charge of £50 for weekly rentals.
It still represents a real bargain as de-luxe cottages of this size and quality, in this region of Normandy, are normally at least £200 more per week.
Bed linen is provided F.O.C as are hand towels, please bring your own bath towels. A security deposit of £200 or Euros in cash is to be paid on arrival which will be refunded within 4 weeks of departure, obviously, less the charges for cleaning or central heating. Rental payments are due in full 8 weeks in advance. Booking deposits are 25% of the weeks rental fee and these are non refundable but can be transferred to another date if cancelled. More details are given with the terms & conditions and the booking form.
