Caberfeidh is a well equipped two-bedroom cottage situated in the picturesque village of Aultbea, a small crofting community on the shores of Loch Ewe, in the North West Highlands of Scotland. The accommodation is all on one level comprising a sitting room, kitchen, dining room, bathroom, double bedroom, twin bedroom and a family room with futon, which doubles as a useful second sitting room. The cottage sleeps four with additional space for a fifth person on the double futon in the family room off the kitchen. A travel cot is available. There is a large, secure, dog-friendly garden which is mostly lawned (please note that there is a small pond in the garden so young children may require supervision). There is parking for up to two cars on a gravelled area. The cottage is just a two minute walk from the local pub, post office, doctors' surgery, garage and a five minute walk from the well-stocked local shop.

The sitting room has a colour TV with Freesat, DVD-player, radio/CD/cassette stereo and an open fire for which coal is provided. The cottage has free Wi-Fi internet. The kitchen is well equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge freezer, and washer/dryer. The adjoining dining room has views across the garden. The bathroom has a modern white suite and has a bath with an electric shower over. Central heating is by electric storage/convector heaters. You are more than welcome to bring your dogs or other pets to stay at the cottage, providing they are well behaved and house trained and are never left in the cottage or garden unsupervised. Caberfeidh is a strictly no smoking property. Prices include bed linen, towels, electricity and fuel.

The cottage makes an ideal base for walking, climbing, fishing, golfing, cycling, birdwatching, boating, or just enjoying the breathtaking scenery. It is 6 miles from the well-known Inverewe Tropical Gardens. There are beautiful sandy beaches at Gruinard and Mellon Udrigle, and fine walks from Gruinard Bay, Gairloch, Poolewe and the nature reserve at Beinn Eighe on Loch Maree. The area is a haven for seabirds and birds of prey. You may see whales, porpoises, dolphins and even otters and there are local boat trips which explore the wonderful variety of marine life in the area. There is an excellent nine-hole golf course at Gairloch and an indoor swimming pool at Poolewe.

Aultbea

The village of Aultbea lies on the shores of Loch Ewe, a sea loch on the west coast of Scotland. The village is a small crofting community around 45 miles from Ullapool and 12 miles north of Gairloch. The area offers a wide range of activities to enjoy, such as a hike through the rugged mountains taking in the breathtaking scenery, a wildlife watching cruise taking you to view the wealth of wildlife and cruise around nearby islands, pony trekking excursions, or a relaxing round of golf on Gairloch's excellent 9 hole golf course. It is also a very popular area for fishing and climbing. There is an indoor swimming pool in the village of Poolewe and the well known Inverewe Tropical Gardens are well worth a visit just 6 miles away.

Only a five minute stroll from the cottage you can enjoy spectacular views of the Isle of Ewe with the beautiful backdrop of the Torridon hills beyond. A short drive away, the pristine, white, sandy beaches of Gruinard Bay, Mellon Udrigle and Gairloch are not to be missed. Also worth a visit are Loch Maree, Scotland's fourth largest freshwater loch, and the nearby Beinn Eighe nature reserve which has a visitor centre and trails for all abilities.

If you feel like travelling further afield, Caberfeidh is ideally situated to enjoy day trips to some of the most scenic parts of the Highlands including the Isle of Skye and Applecross to the south and Ullapool and Assynt to the north. High street shops, supermarkets and cinemas can be found in the town of Dingwall or further east in Inverness.
