About this location
The Province of Leinster region
Aughrim is the winner of the Tidy Towns competition in 2008. It has 3 restaurants and 3 pubs. The Strawberry Tree is one of Ireland's few organic restaurants. There is also a Farmer's market held every Saturday morning selling home made produce and organic vegetables
This cottage is in one of the most picturesque areas in Wicklow with the town of Aughrim only 2 miles away and Ballykissangel 7 miles. A beautiful authentic 200 year old thatch cottage with wonderful views over the countryside and comfortably decorated and furnished with open fire in the lounge. The heating is old style, a solid fuel stove which once lit will take 30 min to heat the radiators. There are lots of activities in the surrounding area from fishing, golfing and a bowling green nearby. Aughrim is a small village with a fine selection of bars and restaurants. The stunning East coast beaches are only 9 miles away.
Arklow is a lively town with a picturesque main street complete with ornate street lighting and colourful shop fronts. It is famous for its 19 Arch bridge which is one of the longest in Europe. The Seabreeze festival in July, Maritime festival in August, Celtic Challenge held every second year and the Arklow Music festival in March are all dates for your diary!
