Remu-wera was the former name of Mount Hobson and literally translates to "burnt edge of kilt"
Built in 1907, the Remuera Train Station on Market Road is the oldest surviving train station in Auckland, and the best preserved.
If you'd like to learn more about Remuera's history go to aucklandcouncil.govt.nz and select "Heritage" under the "News, events and culture" tab. In the right-hand column of the page you will find the "Remuera Heritage Walk" PDF. Or drop into the Remuera Library for a copy.

"Great house and great location, but a little full on."
Great place, tidy and amazing views!
We were a little taken back by some of the rules on our arrival, things we would be charged for etc, but fair enough they want their property taken care of, was just a little unexpected on arrival.
A note about the mattresses - I had a great sleep in the main bedroom, but others who were on fold out couches and in other rooms said they had terrible sleeps and complained of sore backs.
The clean up expectations upon leaving were quite unrealistic when we were there for a 3 day stay, including dusting all surfaces including skirting boards, washing showers, wiping doors, windows and window frames...to name a few, when we had to leave by 10am. I don't mind tidying up and making sure the house is clean, but the list was very long!
Other than that, we had a great stay, had no dramas, John was very helpful and the house is amazing. Very close to some great restaurants too!

"Beautiful panoramic views and gardens."
A warm welcome from John and Mali - with scenic views from every window at Mount Hobson House. The property itself was very spacious, homely and comfortable with every amenity available to us. The walk around the property grounds and gardens was amazing !with its wild and tropical plants. If you feel energetic - then to take a walk to the top of the moutain, or to catch the sunrise / sunset with breathtaking views !
Very good location with walking distance to local transport and rail station.
As John and Mali were just moments away, one could feel safe and secure.
It was a very exciting and adventurous vacation.
Many thanks and kindest regards x
