Home description

Upper level apartment style self catering accommodation only 35 minutes by car from Auckland international Airport (20 minutes of that is beautiful farmland). Perfect for a couple, wanting a peaceful retreat or for the family holiday.

The beach runs for a kilometre east and west of the property, beautiful for a sunset stroll and safe for family swimming. Excellent for all water sports from kayaking when the water is like a millpond to parasailing and windsurfing on a blustery day. You cant beat fresh schnapper, gurnard and kahawai, all plentiful in our waters. Or walk out at low tide & gathers Scallops (September - February ).

If you prefer a round of golf the course like the boat ramp is only a minutes drive, and nearly every hole enjoys water views. Golf buggies are available for hire and meals are available.

For a spot of shopping , two main centres are 20 minutes from the beach, here is where you can do your best price grocery shop. The local 4 Sqaure grocer is 5 minutes away and a butcher 10 minutes.

Dont feel like cooking, try award winning Chin Wags restarurant and bar (300m walk). They also do takeaway pizza. In the same block of shops there is a local fish and chip shop and cafe, hairdresser, chemist/doctor and wholesale alcohol.

Clarks Beach harbour cruises will show you around all the different bays. They even accommodate those wishing to stop at a small beach for a wedding.

The North Island region

Clarks Beach is a rural area with many dairy farms and horses 50 minutes south of Auckland City central business district.

The weather throughout the north island is mild: summer temperature from 20-32 degrees celcius. The east cape ( Hicks Bay and Te Araroa) is the first place in the world to have the sun rise. Early on a fine morning overseas visitors head to the lighthouse to take photos.From Whakatane around the cape to Gisborne has the most sunshine hours recorded for NZ.

Winter is also mild 10-20 degrees celcius. We dont get snow at Clarks Beach, but if you head down to Mt Ruapehu the temps drop and the mountain is great for beginners to extreme skiiers and snowboarders.

2 1/2 hours from Clarks Beach is Rotorua with the Hot mud pools and geysers. Whakarewarewa being a major tourist attraction where you can enjoy learning about the Maori (indigenous people of NZ), language, weaving, carving, culture, food, song and dance after a guided tour around the bubbling mud pools.

The whole NZ coastline has beautiful beaches all great for fishing, some are excellent for surfing, others safe for the whole family.

Wellington at the bottom of the north island is the windy city and our capitol. If you enjoy fine arts and the theatre you will love a visit to wellington.

How to get there

35 minutes by rental car is all it takes to reach the peaceful shores of Clarks Beach
Fly to Auckland International Airport in New Zealand
Pick up a rental car at the airport (Avis, Budget, Hertz, Ace or ART)
Leave the international terminal and head straight through traffic lights (George Bolt/Tom Pearce intersection)
Continue along Tom Pearce. Go right at the roundabout onto Hape drive
Turn left at round about onto Puhinui road
You need to be in the right lane at the top of the road to turn right (2nd set of traffic lights) onto Ross Common road
Follow Ross Common through 1 set of thraffic lights
At the 2nd traffic lights turn left onto Wiri Station road.
Stay in the left lane and go through 5 sets of traffic lights.
Before the sixth set of lights you need to be in the 2nd to the left lane
Go up the hill in the very left lane to make a left hand turn onto the southern motorway.
Your exit off the motorway is the third one (Papakura/Karaka)
You need to be in the right lane to make a right turn onto Linwood road
Follow this road for approx 20 min
Make a right into McKenzie road and follow to T-intersection
Turn right into Clarks Beach road
Left into Torkar road and you are there

The huge main bedroom has a king bed with ranchsliders opening onto the north facing deck. You dont even have to get up to enjoy the views over the water.
The kitchen/lounge open onto the same deck also enjoying the all day sun, sea and sand.
The accommodation is self catering with a gas hob/electric oven, fridge freezer, microwave & electric fry pan.
A 42 inch TV and DVD player ensure you'll have something to do on a rainy day.
Bedroom two has two king single beds. There is an extra single bed if required.
The bathroom contains both a shower and bath, vanity and toilet. Underfloor heating warms the tiles in the cooler months.

Further details outdoors:
A few steps over the lush green NZ grass and you are on the soft white Clarks Beach sand. A waveski and canoe (seats 2 small adults or 1 adult & 1 child ) are available for your use. Life jackets are also provided.
A barbecue and outdoor furniture are make the decking area perfect for outdoor dining.
The offroad parking space is adjacent to the entry

If there are more than 4 people in your family/group, the ground level apartment (Beachfront Breakaway 2) is also available and sleeps another 4 people
