Close to the city but a million miles away!
Backing on to Kauri Park (a forest) you can be at peace and be with nature.
The apartment is in the downstairs (ground floor) part of the house with the host family living upstairs. So, you can have your own space or, if you like, you can socialise with us.
Even though our place is somewhere to get away from the hustle-and-bustle it's still reasonably close to the city and some local conveniences. The best of both worlds really!
Guests have their own entrance and access to a full mini kitchen with fridge/freezer, hot plates, convection microwave and dishwasher. There's even an espresso coffee machine, rice cooker, blender and fruit juicer!
There are two bedrooms, each with very comfortable Queen-size beds. The sofa in the lounge pulls out to a double-size sofa-bed. We recommend that the sofa-bed be used for only for children or only for a few nights for adults. There is also a portacot if you need one for a baby.
Broadband internet is available via Wi-Fi. We have uncapped VDSL and the apartment has it's own wireless access point.
Outside is a small covered deck with outdoor furniture and a barbeque overlooking a large backyard which backs on to a forest. It's not unusual to see and hear the local wildlife.
Kauri Road is a no-exit street so there's not a lot of traffic. 30m away from the house is Fernglen Gardens and some nice bush walks.
It's also not far to go to a nice cafe or bar & bistro.
Bus stops are not far away. An off-street car park is available. Taxi fare is only around $NZ 25 to the city.

Auckland is New Zealand's largest city and the centre of the country's retail and commercial activities. Approximately 401,500 people live within the city boundary and 1.25 million in the greater Auckland area. This represents about one third of the population of the whole country.
The city is built on a narrow isthmus between two harbours - the Manukau and the Waitemata - and is surrounded by 11 dormant volcanoes and numerous picturesque islands.
This harbourside location has fostered locals' love of the sea and Auckland is nicknamed the "City of Sails" because of the great number of yachts that sail in the harbours and the adjoining Hauraki Gulf.
To the west of the city, the Waitakere Ranges rainforest forms a gateway to magnificent west coast surf beaches and an abundance of bush walks.
Auckland is a city with a rich cosmopolitan mix of peoples. Around 63 percent of its residents are of European descent while 13 percent are Pacific Islanders, 11 percent are New Zealand M?ori and there is a growing Asian population, currently about 12 percent.

The city's climate is temperate, with warm summers (averaging more than 24 degrees) and cooler winters (averaging 16 degrees). The summer months are between December and March. The prevailing wind is westerly.

Birkenhead village is blessed with sea views from every street and the serene native bush just minutes away is alive with birdsong. Take one of the local walks to experience historic treasures like the sugar factory and the original workers' cottages.
By day, wander through the bustling shops and relax with a great cup of coffee at one of the many cafés. By night the village sparkles with twinkling fairy lights lining the main street and the restaurants come alive. Birkenhead has a great selection of eateries to choose from, offering a wide range of ethnic and local cuisine.

"Perfect for one month"
