About this location
The Limousin region
LIMOUSIN: Concerts, exhibitions, festivals, sports events, markets... there's always something going on in Limousin! Feeling good comes naturally here. Our region gets it charm from its hilly green landscapes where visitors can take part in an entire range of sports and activities.
Whether you enjoy horseback riding, biking or kayaking events, the sports lover in you will feel right at home here.
However, Limousin is much more than a land of adventure. Culture plays an important part here with all sorts of museums, contemporary art centres, concert halls and many exciting festivals.
Take time to discover Creuse, from Aubusson with its famous tapestry (on UNESCO's intangible heritage list), to Bourganeuf, one of the first towns in France to have had electricity, Guéret with its wolf park, Boussac and its castle, Crozant and the Impressionist painters' Valley... these are just a few examples of what Creuse has to offer.
Last but not least, in Limousin, food is an art of living with an abundance of top quality produce : meat (the famous Limousin beef, veal, lamb, pork, poultry and foie gras), apples (the only ones to have been awarded the prestigious AOP label in France), berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries...), walnuts, chestnuts...can all be found on our local markets, farms and in our restaurants.

"Charming cozy cottage."
We stayed at Les Puids for 2 weeks whilst house hunting in the area. The facilities at the cottage were excellent. Kitchen was fully equipped - we did not want for a thing. Lovely big bathroom with bo… More

"A little gem in the heart of rural France"
This is a well equipped easy to run comfortable little house. Do not let the main road past it put you off as it is very quiet. The garden is a very private sun trap and we enjoyed the lovely blackberries we picked just by leaning over the wall!

Had a week here at the end of April. Cottage fine for the two of us, (pensioners).
Good centre for walking, boating, fishing etc, but we had rain every day during our stay. Not many tourist attractions nearby for us and tourism hasn't infiltrated too much around here, and doesn't seem to happen till July/August. Beware of French bank holidays when everything seems to close. Carrefour in Aubusson open on Sunday mornings, but not impressed with the tapestry museum. Visited the wolf sanctuary, but not much to see, apart from feeding time. We were told there were 5 chateau nearby to visit, but we only found one!
In spite of all this we had a lovely relaxing week.
I'm sorry the weather wasn't great during your visit, it wasn't too great here. You're right, if walking, climbing, cycling, fishing, water-sports, skiing are your thing - great! It's a shame the other local attractions were not satisfactory, or open, but glad you had a relaxing, comfortable time at the cottage and enjoyed the local food and wine. It was a pleasure meeting you both. :-)

"Great cottage - great location"
We arrived late after some Sat Nav issues however hosue was easily found and clean and tidy inside - Just as described. Initially surprised that it was on a main road however it is not a main road in the UK sense of the word and we were never troubled by the traffic - Ideal garden for sunbathing and great location for trips into Aubusson.
Overall very peaceful and a great value holiday
