The Poitou-Charentes / Vendee / Charente region
This area of France enjoys a wonderful climate with long summers starting early lasting well into October. The log burning stove and open fire make the farmhouse a warm and cosy place to stay in the winter. There are numerous beautiful old towns and villages to visit which really come alive on market days. A 50 minutes drive will take you to Brantome, the Venice of the Perigueux or St Emilion, a lovely old town where you can visit the ancient vineyards by small train and sample the wine.Drive further into the Dordogne and see the amazing Lascaux caves or the famous medieval town of Sarlat. Riberac the largest market town in the Perigord is only 20 minutes away. There are plenty of vinyards to visit or take an interesting tour of one of the Cognac Estates.
Aubeterre sur Dronne / Poitou area
Just 10 minutes away is one of the prettiest villages in France Aubeterrre sur Dronne with its famous underground church where concerts and performances are held during the summer months. Just a short drive will take you to the river Dronne with its safe riverside beaches and leisure facilities, get dropped off with a canoe, enjoy lunch at a riverside restaurant and leisurely paddle your way back. You are welcome at the local Anglo French golf club 5 minutes drive away, there are tennis courts and a pool and creche here.

Further details indoors: We have recently redecorated the house with contempory and antique furniture. There are 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms plus a downstairs WC, the fully fitted kitchen has log burning stove, washing machine, dishwasher etc. The spacious and comfortable lounge has an open fireplace which really makes the house warm and cosy in the winter months and a 28" TV with UK satellite and DVD player. We hope to provide a really comfortable and beautiful home from home for your holiday.
Further details outdoors: There are good sized grounds surrounded by fields of maize and sunflowers. A large swimming pool is located in a lovely secluded spot overlooking the countryside. The south facing terrace is private and overlooks undulating countryside and is furnished with patio dining furniture, sunbeds and a BBQ
