Chez Grelon, Longeveau
Cottage | 3 bedrooms | sleeps 7
This beautiful country house is set in the Charentaise countryside, close to Longeveau. It has been finished to the highest standards and delivers everything you could need for a truly relaxing and memorable holiday.
The house has recently been renovated, offering a wonderful blend of contemporary design and authentic period features.
On entering the property past the Pigeonier tower, pass though into the lounge, complete with English TV, DVD, an iPod dock and wifi. Further on, the second lounge and dining room lead into a beautiful kitchen, with granite worktop and plenty of space for preparing you holiday banquets! The house is equipped with dishwasher, washing machine and all of the utensils you will need for your holiday.
Upstairs, all of the bedrooms are spacious and light, with exposed stone walls throughout. There are two double bedrooms, one with en-suite. The third room is perfect for children, with 3 x single beds. A large family bathroom with separate shower and bath, plus a small chill out area, complete the upstairs.
The garden terrace stretches the length of the house, stepping down to a small garden adjoining the heated pool. An outside dining area and plenty of sun loungers will ensure you make the most of the long summer days. And thoughtful illumination of the terrace and pool will ensure you can enjoy it well into the night! Two larger garden areas offer plenty of space to play in (with fencing to stop the little ones escaping!)
Guests staying at Chez Grelon will benefit from all of the services and facilities offered at Longeveau, including the bar & restaurant, golf, tennis and treatment room. Plus our staff are on hand should you require any assistance during your stay. But staying at Chez Grelon offers you something a little more secluded. A helping of glamour, with plenty of peace and tranquility!
Additional beds can be put in some properties for increased accommodation and twin or double combinations can be altered if required. Cots, high chairs and plenty of other baby bits are available if needed. Internet access, wifi and TV (with Sky Sports) are available from the bar, while some cottages have TV/DVDs. The garden is furnished with sun loungers, outside dining and a BBQ for the long summer days!
Please note that we have several other equally charming three-bedroomed cottages on site, as well as a choice of smaller or larger properties.
Longeveau itself is a very relaxed environment for families, groups and couples. Within the grounds we offer a range of facilities to make your holiday as relaxed or enjoyable as you wish it to be. As well as a superb range of facilities, we offer the opportunity for families or groups to socialise with others. Or simply appreciate the peace and quiet of your own company! Above all, we offer you the opportunity to relax, refresh and enjoy...
Our 'Salle de Soins' (treatment room) offers a range of massages and treatments for you to indulge in!
Our 9 hole FFG golf course is a challenge to golfers of all abilities. We have three all-weather tennis courts, a sports barn with compact tennis, basketball etc., a table tennis barn and boules pitch. We have five swimming pools (two heated / three private) plus a children's splash pool and plenty of space to relax in or explore. Golf and tennis coaching is available from local English speaking PGA / CCA qualified professionals.
For our younger guests, there is a play area, a toddlers play area, a secret play house and a crèche that runs throughout the summer. Our restaurant serves great food and shares a terrace with the bar, with south facing views across the grounds and the valley.

The Poitou-Charentes/Vendee region
The region is known for it's great climate with sun drenched summers, rolling green hills and valleys as far as you can see, plus all the history you could ever need. The food and drink is superb and the people are welcoming. The area is a paradise for wine lovers who may wish to visit the numerous chateaux and wine caves on the Bordeaux wine trail.
Aubeterre sur Dronne
Longeveau is located on the Charente / Dordogne border in a beautiful valley in rural South West France. Nearby villages are full of activity, with places to visit, dine and drink. The picturesque old Roman town of Aubeterre, which was recently voted one of the prettiest villages in France, is only a bike ride away. Discover the 12th century subterranean church carved out of the rock or enjoy a drink on the village square with it's variety of shops, eateries and museums, all overlooked by a 1,000 year old chateau. Alternatively walk down to the river beach for a swim, relax or a bite to eat.
The market town of Riberac (20 mins) has one of the biggest markets in France! The capital towns of Angouleme and Perigueux (45 mins) offer a wider and more sophisticated range of shops in a typically French setting. Brantome, nicknamed the 'Venice of Perigord' is well worth a visit at a similar distance. Also within easy reach are towns such as St. Emilion, Bergerac, Cognac and Bordeaux, all famous for their wines and spirits and equally beautiful places to visit.
Local activities range from walking, sight seeing, tree climbing, canoeing, cycling, fishing, or even jet–skiing and quad biking to name but a few. Wine tasting and degustation are of course a staple part of the French experience! There are a variety of local festivals, fetes and firework displays that take place throughout the summer in the local villages and towns. These are aimed at all ages and generally take place between the months of June and September.
Children will find plenty to occupy themselves and their families with activities ranging from crazy golf, horse riding and tree top adventure's to daytrip's to the popular attractions of Aqualand Water Park, La Palmyre Zoo and Futuroscope. Longeveau is fortunate to have a number of very good restaurants in the area, ranging from cafés to fine dining. As with everything, our staff will be happy to recommend or help you with decisions.

"Chez Grelon @ Manoir de Longeveau"
We've just returned from a week's holiday in Chez Grelon which was great. The house is lovely with great views and lots of outside space, not to mention the pool. We were aware that the hous… More
Hi, I am glad you enjoyed your stay with us, at Chez Grelon. Apologies for the slightly delayed response - we have been waiting to confirm a few new procedures for the 2013 season..
The 'Chez Grelon' page of our website lists a more detailed breakdown of walking, cycling and driving distances and times. We have tested these with our own children! The reviewer is correct in saying that Chez Grelon is a 'healthy' 25-30 minutes walk from Longeveau - with little children, we would say closer to 45 minutes. But it is a lovely walk, down a country lane, farm track and over a little stream.
We try to keep our drinks prices competitively priced for the region. But while some of our British guests may find France a little more expensive, our Irish guest may be pleasantly surprised!
All of our cottages come with complimentary loo roll, but from 2013 we are offering the opportunity to purchase a more substantial welcome pack. Packs will vary from the basics, as suggested by the the reviewer, to something more luxurious. We will also offer a pack with handy bits and pieces for babies and children. We are hoping to offer pool towels too.
Thanks you for your feedback, and for your recommendation..
