About the home
This charming 250 year old cottage was discovered hidden away in a tranquil village in the heart of Piemonte (sometimes referred to as Piedmont), in the midst of the region's celebrated vineyards. It is ideally situated to enjoy to the full the Italian lifestyle, historic towns, fine wines and gastronomic delights of the area.
Traditional in style, the property has recently been renovated to emphasise its characteristic features: terracotta floors, old beamed and vaulted brick ceiling, open fireplaces and wooden shutters. The ground floor boasts a large living room, dining room, and kitchen. A wide stairway ascends to the first floor and two spacious bedrooms, a double & twin, and a fitted bathroom. The house is suitable for children, however, no cots or safety catches are installed.
The house is situated in the heart of Bruno near the bustling market town of Nizza Monferrato. It is a centre of the wine trade with excellent restaurants, shopping facilities, banks, & a colourful weekly Friday market. Numerous hilltop towns adorn the area, the rolling hills themselves carpeted with vineyards producing the fine wines of Asti, Alba and Barolo, to name but three.
Three beautiful medieval cities lie within thirty minutes drive. Alba, Asti and the medieval spa town Acqui Terme, where one can bathe in one of Europe’s largest swimming pools. The Ligurian coast is only an hours drive, the Italian Lakes and winter ski resorts are all easily within reach.
Further afield the cities of Turin, Genoa and Milan provide city chic and international airports; the former two are within an hours drive and Milan is only an hour and a half away. All these airports provide daily flights from the UK with low cost carriers. In short, this is a beautiful property in a very convenient and peaceful setting, ideally located for the exploration and enjoyment of the best of the Piemonte region.

The North West Italy / Piedmont/Lake Maggiore region

The region is mostly mountains and hills, on the north-western border of Italy with France and Switzerland; surrounded by some of the highest mountains in Europe, such as the Gran Paradiso and Monte Rosa, it is occupied to the East by the Pianura Padana, crossed by the largest river in Italy, the Po, and its many tributaries.
The region is world famous for its wine production where the Langhe hills are home to the great Barolo wines and nearby Asti produces its Spumante. Food lovers around the world visit the area to sample its truffles and visit Bra the capital of the Slow Food movement.
The cities of Turin, Genoa and Milan provide city chic and international airports; the former two within an hours drive and Milan an hour and a half away.
The Ligurian coast with its beaches and resorts is only 40 minutes along the motorway. Going north and west the Italian Lakes and in winter the ski resorts of Sestreire and Salsa d’Oux are all easily in reach.
The Asti area
The bustling market town of Nizza Monferrato is a ten minute drive away. It is a major centre of the wine trade with excellent restaurants, shopping facilities, banks & cinema. The colourful weekly Friday market at the main square Piazza Garibaldi and the antique market – held third Sunday of each month – are very popular.
Numerous hilltop towns adorn the area, the rolling hills themselves carpeted with vineyards producing the fine wines of Asti, Alba and Barolo, to name but three. Sampling and perhaps purchasing wine at any of the small producers in the area is one of the great pleasures of this region.
Three beautiful medieval cities lie within thirty minutes drive. Alba famed for its truffle production hosts a truffle fair each November which no gourmand should miss.
Asti celebrates its eponymous sparkling wine but also hosts its own horse race, its Palio, in September.
Arguably the most beautiful of all, Acqui Terme is a true hidden gem, a medieval spa town where hot springs still bubble in the town square and one can bathe in one of Europe’s largest swimming pools.
