This property is a gem. A luxury, traditional riad with hammam for up to 7 guests, it is the tallest of only eight houses on the ocean within the charming, white-washed medina (old fortified town) of Assilah. No cars are allowed in the walls. The property is 27 km from Tangier airport.
Asilah is one of only two white-washed medina's in Morocco. It is small enough to become familiar, yet large enough to provide plenty of variety, but luckily lacks the hassle of larger cities like Marrekech, Fez, or Tangier. Considered an artist enclave, it hosts the Asilah Arts Festival every summer. The shops are small, including the communal bakery where you can get your bread, or even your meals, to be cooked for a few dirham, and most shopkeepers love to pass the time with visitors. Taxis are cheap and can be hired by the day for excursions to quiet beaches, the Rif mountains, Tangier and other destinations.
This one of a kind luxury riad features an entirely open floorplan with birds gracing the heights of the communal spaces and the sound of the ocean present throughout. It is done entirely in the purest Moroccan tradition and comfortably fits up to 7 guests.
This property is the only house on the ocean with floor to cieling Portuguese terraces in every room. As the tallest building on the ocean, it has unmatched 360 degree views of not only the ocean, facing West for a perfect sunset, but also the old town directly behind. The house is organized as a "riad", with an open central courtyard with a fountain. Open stairs arches, and flowing curtains divide the communal halls and spaces.
Here, decor is in the purest Moroccan tradition, with hand cut tiles, antique doors, and custom made colonial furniture to compliment its open air, oceanfront feel. On the groundfloor there is a Morrocan style bar, a sitting room with a fireplace, and an open dining room table for 12 and a bathroom with blue tiles.
The first floor is a guest floor with a beautiful, open, communal living area, two guest room in traditional decor and one particular bathroom in a moroccan stucco (Tadelakt). On the second floor there is the master bedroom suite which is comfortably furnished in an elegant colonial style and Moroccan traditional features.
The master suite features a living room, en-suite bathroom with bath and an original hammam. Each bedroom has a unique atmosphere and is well equipped, featuring comfortable double or single beds.
On the top floor is the terrace, with washed blue floor, qrand morroccan carpet, and large table, surrounded by traditional pillowed banquet seating. Here apertifs and dinners can be served. It also has a double bed for sleeping under the stars at night.
