"A perfect New Forest retreat!"
I recently stayed at the Alpine Cottage for my partners 30th Birthday - from booking to arriving it has been perfect! The caretakers and Steve the owner have been brilliant from putting balloons and banners up prior to arrival and even leaving a lovely bottle of prosecco, very kind.
The Cottage is a real home from home with everything we could have needed, it is clean, warm and has a big enough garden for dogs or small children to play in. The shops are close enough and the Happy Cheese or forest inn pub are just down the road (cheap and cheerful!) and the location is simply perfect.....we enjoyed a good 2 hour walk in the forest literally across the road most mornings with our dog and met some wild ponies outside the garden gate late afternoon!
We recommend a trip to Moors Valley Country park for various cycle routes including single track off road, they also have Go Ape and a nice little restaurant on site. We also visited 'The Pig' restaurant in Brockenhurst (15 minutes drive away) the food is exceptional and all sourced within a 25 mile radius, be sure to book 3 weeks prior!
Thank you again for the perfect place to celebrate my partners 30th Birthday, we will visit again.
Stacey, Matt and Buddy :)

"Lovely homely cottage"
Had a really relaxing stay with my 12 year old son and our dog. The cottage is lovely and cosy and decorated and furnished to give a really home from home feel. Location is excellent on the doorstep of lovely forest walks. Would highly recommend for winter or summer stay and will certainly go back some time.

"Idyllic, fresh, clean & spacious New Forest base"
We found the Alpine Cottage to be the cleanest & freshest of the 10 cottages we have rented. There was plenty of space, it was well appointed with bathrooms on both floors. Its location next to the New Forest was ideal not only for pleasant walks but it was also central to the sights we wished to visit in that region. The pin board in the kitchen was an excellent idea for giving the necessary information for the cottage. We appreciated the decor and prints decorating the walls, and we could see that in summer the decking & garden would be pleasant to use.

"A beautiful English cottage for all to enjoy!"
We had the pleasure of staying in this beautiful cottage for just over two weeks and it was perfect. The house was very clean, nicely decorated and it provided many comforts to make our trip enjoyable and comfortable. We especially enjoyed the patio area and sitting in the conservatory. My husband was born and raised in the Totton/Southampton area and we have many relatives that still live within 30 minutes of the cottage. The location was ideal for visiting family and friends as well and many historical areas of England, its just a short drive to Romsey, Winchester, and Salisbury to name a few. The Netley Marsh Car boot is also just around the corner, I always find a few treasures to take back home.
We did meet some of the neighbors and their dogs, we especially enjoyed seeing the parade of ponies in the area. We also took advantage of the walking trails in the forest, they are minutes from the cottage. Maybe next year we will try out the bike trails. The weather was accommodating and we are missing the beauty of the area now.
We visit the UK each year from New Orleans, Louisiana and hope to return to Alpine cottage. In the past we have stayed with family and very good B & B's but we found for a small difference we could get all the comforts of home. This was our first stay at the Alpine cottage and we are looking forward to our next return.

"The best holiday cottage we have ever stayed in - and there have been a few."
It's perfect in all ways. So well equipped - you want for nothing. Certainly home from home.
The location is so convenient if you have a dog and there are miles of convenient walks.
Highly recommended. We have been a number of times and will go back again and again.

"A comfortable stay in a lovely part of the country"
We have been staying at Alpine Cottage for the last five years for the same week in May to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The Cottage is very comfortable - two bedrooms, bathroom, shower room, kitchen, dining room and lounge - all in excellent condition and very well appointed. The garden is perfect for dogs, being large and secure, and the forest is just a few yards away - with lots of trees and other canine delights!
Lyndhurst, the capital of the New Forest, is a five minute drive, and offers lots of options for shopping and eating - we can certainly recommend the Imperial ChIna for both its food and service, and Pages as the shop for local ales and other pleasantries.
Further afield, but no great distance, you have Beaulieu, Brockenhurst and Lymington within convenient driving distance, and endless open spaces to explore within the forest.
Booking and take-over of the cottage are hassle free and both the owner and bookings manager are extremely helpful and well organised. After fifty years of cottage bookings throughout the UK we can honestly say that Alpine is, and we hope always will be, one of the very best.
The last word has to go to the various dogs that have accompanied our trips at different times - Cody, Buddy, and Fella (all rescues, none named by us!). It's a very positive wuff wuff from them...!

"A perfect holiday - loved the cottage and the area"
We've been "holiday cottaging" for a number of years now and this is why we do it. Stepping out of the front door into beautiful countryside was a perfect way to start each day of the holiday. It was a great place to relax and we went on some lovely forest walks. A very peaceful area and a family of ponies even came by the gate of the cottage on a few mornings to say hello!
The cottage was spotless and well equipped. We were lucky enough to have some great weather and sitting out in the secluded garden at the end of the day with a nice glass of wine was a perfect way to finish off a hard day of exploring :)
Fully recommend this cottage and we will definitely be returning.
