About the home

This delightful cottage has been wonderfully converted from a traditional stone barn to provide a cosy self catering holiday cottage. Full of character with old beams, pine staircase, galleried landing and a gorgeous log burning fire.

A comfy two seater sofa and two armchairs are perfect places to relax and enjoy the charming wood burning stove. A large basket of logs awaits your arrival. The cream painted ragstone walls, antique oak wall clock and pretty curtains create a tranquil scene. A special feature of the cottage is the lovely double bedroom which is nestled in the eaves. Small windows allow light to flood in and give far reaching views over the surrounding countryside.

The Garden cottage will create the perfect atmosphere to while away time after enjoying all that the local countryside has to offer.

The cottage has been rated 4 Star by Visit Britain.

The cottage is approached from the side of the barn through its own private garden. The open plan living room with a wonderful slate floor is traditionally furnished. A two seater sofa and two armchairs give plenty of seating. A flat screen TV with Freeview is provided as well as a DAB radio, CD player and I-Pod docking station. Internet Access is available via the owner's BT Home Hub. At one end of the living room is a fold down pine table which will seat 4 comfortably - this sits below a large ornate mirror.

The shower room leads off the living room and is modern with shower, WC, basin, heated towel rail and electric shaver point. The open plan kitchen is immaculate with modern fittings and well equipped with electric hob, electric oven, extractor fan, fridge, microwave and washing machine.

Beyond the kitchen is a pretty bedroom with single bed and further single pull out bed below which can provide either an arrangement of twin beds or one super king sized bed, if required. The room is decorated in pastel shades with antique pine chest of drawers and hanging area.

Leading from the living room a pine staircase takes you up to the galleried landing. From here there is a separate double bedroom with double bed, bedside tables and lamps, and flat screen TV with built-in DVD player and remote control.

Heating is electric panel radiators and wood burning stove.

Outside there is a fully enclosed area of garden with teak table and chairs, bench and barbecue. Parking is at the front of the barn with space available for two cars.

Refundable security deposit of £100 payable. One large basket of logs is provided. Further logs, if required, can be purchased from the owner in the Barn. One dog welcome. Highchair available and travel cot available. Short breaks available. Internet access is available via the owner's BT Home Hub. Booking fee of £26.40 payable. **Please note that the second bedroom (single with pull out bed) has restricted head height**

Kent is known as the Garden of England in recognition of its attractive countryside and wealth of historic houses and gardens.

Shopping facilities in Kent are plentiful with regular food and craft markets held in many of the towns and villages. There are extensive shopping centres in Bromley, Canterbury, Tunbridge Wells and Bluewater ( Europe's largest indoor shopping mall) and the world famous West End of London is easily accessible.

Kent offers superb opportunities for walking and cycling in delightful surroundings, including the North Downs and the High Weald. Knole Park, a magnificent 1000 acre deer park and home to the 16th century Knole House, can be found in Sevenoaks. Other sites of interest in Kent include Hever Castle, childhood home of Anne Boleyn; Leeds Castle, "The Loveliest Castle in the World", and historic Canterbury Cathedral.

The Ashford, Kent / Egerton area

The Garden Cottage is situated between the two villages of Egerton and Pluckley at the very end of Iden Lane which is extremely quiet with little traffic. Walkers can step straight out onto the many footpaths which abound in the area - details of walks are provided in the cottage.

Egerton village is a fifteen minute walk or a quick drive away. This village is renowned for its beauty and boasts a thriving Friday afternoon farmers market. A traditional English pub and village shop/post office are nestled around the ancient Church.

Pluckley, approximately 1 mile in the other direction, also has many attractions. It was the film location for the famous ‘Darling Buds of May' series and is also supposed to be the most haunted village in England! Further afield there are wonderful gardens including Sissinghurst and Great Dixter to visit and fabulous Leeds Castle is only 20 minutes away. This is one of the most beautiful Castles in England. At Leeds Castle there is the new ‘Go Ape' attraction which is an award- winning high wire forest adventure course up to 40 feet up into the trees.
