The Barn, Fishponds Cottage
About the home
The Barn has just been completed to the highest standard with oak beams and open aspect giving it a real feeling of light and space. The sitting room is double height with large french windows making the most of the wonderful open views across the owner’s fields with guinea fowl, chickens and a pond as well. There are also visiting fallow deer, badgers, rabbits etc, and the owners have even seen owls in the woods.
The barn is well-furnished with antique pine and comfortable leather sofas complimenting the attractive shades of the natural wood. The kitchen is to one end of the open plan room and is well-equipped.
The attractive and good sized double bedroom has been prettily furnished with a charming wrought iron bed.
Outside the cottage has its own private seating area with chairs, table and a barbecue. Beyond this private area is a meadow which you are able to use and enjoy, although as there is a pond we would ask that children are supervised at all times.
The cottage has been rated 4 Star by Visit Britain.

The South East England / Kent region

Kent is in the South-East of England and consists of many important districts such as Dartford, Maidstone, Ashford, Canterbury and Dover.
Canterbury inspired Chaucer's Canterbury Tales and William Golding worked in Maidstone.
Kent is easily accessible by road, sea or rail. Indeed, Dover is the closest point to France and remains a hub for ferry travel to the rest of Europe.
Tourist Attractions:
Canterbury Cathedral
Chartwell, Winston Churchill's home
Deal Castle
Dover Castle
Leeds Castle
Rochester Castle
Coldrum Stones
Brockhill Country Park
This is an area of the UK which contains many walking and cycling routes as well as over 500 years of history.
The Ashford, Kent / Brook area
Brook is a pretty rural village in an area of outstanding natural beauty, at the foot of the North Downs, with the chalk Wye Crown on the hill above the village. The village has a good pub ten minutes walk from the cottage, and there are wonderful walks in all directions for guests to enjoy.
The owner can arrange clay pigeon shooting by arrangement and there is good cycling on and off-road in the vicinity.
The cathedral city of Canterbury is 10 miles to the north which is well worth a visit and if you are looking for a beach, the cottage is about 20 minutes from Hythe with its old-fashioned charm and long promenade.
As Kent has more castles than any other county there are lots to visit – particularly the beautiful moated Leeds Castle, and Dover Castle with its wonderful historic battlements and the secret World War II chambers dug into the white cliffs.
