Book nowThe South East England / Kent region
Kent is in the South-East of England and consists of many important districts such as Dartford, Maidstone, Ashford, Canterbury and Dover.
Canterbury inspired Chaucer's Canterbury Tales and William Golding worked in Maidstone.
Kent is easily accessible by road, sea or rail. Indeed, Dover is the closest point to France and remains a hub for ferry travel to the rest
of Europe.
Tourist Attractions:
Canterbury Cathedral
Chartwell, Winston Churchill's home
Deal Castle
Dover Castle
Leeds Castle
Rochester Castle
Coldrum Stones
Brockhill Country Park
This is an area of the UK which contains many walking and cycling routes as well as over 500 years of history.
The Ashford, Kent / Bonnington area
Marchwood Cottage is ideally located within the pretty hamlet of Bonnington, Kent and about a 10 minute drive from the market town of Ashford. Ashford has an abundance of things to offer from ten pin bowling, a 12 screen cinema, pubs and restaurants galore as well as a newly built indoor shopping centre. Why not visit the fully equipped sports centre with indoor swimming pool, children’s’ splash pool, slides and Jacuzzi, tennis facilities, squash facilities and much much more, I highly recommend a visit on the rainier days of a traditional British holiday.
There are 2 pubs all serving food within a few minutes’ drive of the cottage, why not take a break from cooking and try out the home cooked food that all 3 pubs provide.
For the sunnier warmer days why not try a day at the beach which is approximately a 30 minute drive from Marchwood Cottage. Hythe is a quaint seaside town with so much to offer apart from the beach, the town has an eclectic array of cafes, restaurants and wine bars as well as antique shops and unusual trinket shops for you to peruse.
Further along the coast is Dover with the famous Castle majestically perched on the cliff top, you would be hard pushed not to notice the stunning sight as you enter the town.
What about a day trip France, you can catch a ferry from the port of Dover and be sat in a pavement café people watching whilst sipping a glass of beer within 90 minutes, and then catch the ferry back in time for supper in the Kent countryside, just don’t forget your passport.
