Cottage | 3 bedrooms | sleeps 6
Pope´s Cottage dates back to the early 19th century and is a typical traditional detached cottage with white weatherboard cladding and a Kent peg-tiled roof, and has been lovingly restored over the years, keeping the cottage charm, but bringing the house into the 21st century.
Our freestanding detached cottage is located in the heart of the Woodchurch Conservation Area, directly on The Green , which is one the larger and nicer village cricket greens in Kent. You enter directly on to the Green by stepping through the original 19th C wooden gate in the garden.
Woodchurch is a large, social village, with much to offer. It has a fine Grade 1 Listed church and there is the well maintained village green in the heart of the village with a play area for children. The impressive white smock windmill in the village has been fully restored and is opened to the public on Sunday afternoons and bank holidays, throughout the summer. The Rare Breeds Centre just outside the village is well known and holds many family functions throughout the year. A lottery grant was awarded to the village to fund the restoration of a timber frame barn and this is now the Woodchurch Museum.
The village has two very nice tradiotional pubs, The Six Bells and The Bonny Cravat, both at easy walking distance on the other side of The Green. The village has a convenience store, open 7 days a week. Waitrose and Tesco can be found in Tenterden, 4 miles from Woodchurch.
Ground floor; character sitting room with beams and large inglenook with woodburner, 2 comfy sofas; large very well equiped kitchen with separate dining area, seating 6 (table extending to 8) with access to the garden; shower room with wash basin and toilet
First floor; 3 double bedrooms of which two with each a king sized double and one with two single beds (all with new mattrasses); family bathroom with bath, power shower over bath, wash basin and toilet
Outside: large front and back garden with comfortable new garden furniture, barbecue. In the garden you will also find a summer house with a table football, exercise bike, exercise bench, yoga matt and ball, and a sauna, which can be used by our guests.

Both the kitchen and the upstairs bathroom have been entirely renovated in 2013 to a very high standard. All the sofa´s, beds, matrasses, furniture, etc are newly furnished, except of course the antiques.

The South East England region
Kent is also known as the Garden of England. It is conveniently located in the South of England between London and the Channel Tunnel.
Tenterden – 4 miles
Widely regarded as one of the most charming towns in the South East England, Tenterden, and its surrounding villages and countryside, is a fascinating place to visit and explore. With its unique mix of fascinating history and heritage, traditional shopping, family fun, great country activities and events, Tenterden and its surrounding villages have something for everyone. The town itself boasts a vibrant High Street and adjoining lanes full of quirky shops, a large leisure centre complete with swimming pool, flume and fitness centre plus a large recreation ground, impressive children's play areas, tennis courts and bowling green.
One of the best ways to enjoy the town is to follow the Heritage Trail that takes in the museums, the historic churches, the Elizabethan, Georgian and Victorian buildings and Town Hall. The town is also home to The Kent and East Sussex Railway where you can climb aboard one of its beautifully restored carriages and enjoy a trip through the picturesque Rother Valley to Bodiam Castle.
Sissinghurst Castle Gardens, Sissinghurst, near Cranbrook – 12.5 miles
Sissinghurst is one of England's most romantic country gardens. Created by pre World War II English writer Vita Sackville-West and her husband Sir Harold Nicolson, it is divided into intimate garden "rooms" that offer an array of color all year round. The White Garden is world famous.
Camber Sands Beach - 14 miles
Camber Sands is a popular, very pretty, sandy beach, with picturesque dunes and interesting wildlife. Very popular with children or for a nice walk on the beach.
Chapel Down Winery, in Tenterden
The most well known English winery with a reputation for excellent wines, open for guided tours
“The south of England shares almost identical geology and soils to the Champagne region, with a chalk seam typified by the North and South Downs of Kent and Sussex and excellent well drained soils in Essex and The Weald. Working together we ensure that only the best fruit arrives at the winery in Tenterden to make the very best wine possible from the grapes. We know we are lucky and privileged to do this in a beautiful environment in The Garden of England and that we have a responsibility to protect and improve this inspiring area."
Leeds Castle – 23 miles
One of the world´s most beautiful castles
“Visitors never forget their first breath-taking vision of Leeds Castle in Kent, rising majestically from the moat as it has done for over 900 years. With 500 acres of beautiful parkland and formal gardens, daily events and year round attractions, it's not just the glorious history of Leeds Castle that will ensure you want to come back time and again.”
Canterbury – 23 miles
Canterbury's skyline is dominated by the stunning Cathedral, the oldest in England. But the cathedral is only part of the story; the ancient ruins of St Augustine's Abbey and St Martin's Church form Canterbury's UNESCO World Heritage Site while other ancient ruins such as the Castle are reminders of the city's history, heritage and culture.
London – 62 miles
Central London; St Pancras Station, is about one hour away via the fast train from Ashford International Station: from Woodchurch 15 min to get to the station, 34 min to get to Central London. This is the best way to get to London fast.
Ashford has many facilities, including the Mcarthurglen Ashord Designer Outlet Centre, with 80 brands to choose from, and all the big superstores, some open 24 hours (Sainsbury´s).
