Apple Loft Cottage is a charming converted stone barn sleeping two people situated near Buckfastleigh to the south of Dartmoor National Park. The property is attached to the owners 17th century Grade 11 listed house, down a quiet lane within four acres of gardens and grounds, with the river Dart and the South Devon Railway running behind the property.
The cottage is beautifully presented and furnished with flair. It offers very comfortable, quality accommodation for those wishing to explore the beautiful Devon countryside and seeking peace and relaxation. The property consists of a lounge/dining area with a high vaulted beamed ceiling, a mix of antique and contemporary furniture and tasteful soft furnishings. The Shaker style kitchen is well equipped with electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, dish-washer and microwave, together with everything that you need to rustle up a meal. Downstairs, the contemporary shower-room, has a powerful shower and free-standing wash basin. Upstairs, the king-size bed nestles under the beamed ceiling and is complemented by antique pine furniture. Crisp cotton bed-linen and bathrobes add a touch of luxury here. There is gas fired central heating throughout. Outside, there is a small walled courtyard with views to the pond and is set within the 4 acre gardens and grounds of this former farmhouse.
Whilst set in a quiet rural location, Apple Loft holiday cottage is just minutes from the A38 and one mile from the quaint town of Buckfastleigh. Ashburton, a picturesque Stannary town with great gift and antique shops is only three miles away, and the Elizabethan town of Totnes, a lively historic town set on the river Dart, just five. The coastal areas of Dartmouth and Salcome are an easy 45 minute drive away and the cities of Exeter and Plymouth just 22 miles.
Locally there are plenty of characterful pubs and restaurants serving great food - much of it locally sourced.
This cottage is just perfect for those wishing to explore Dartmoor the South Hams area of Devon.

The Devon region
South Devon is one of the most popular holiday destinations in England. Having access to two coastlines, the South Hams with its estuaries and beaches and the nearby Dartmoor National Park and the more rugged north coast.
Buckfastleigh is situated mid way between Exeter and Plymouth on the south side of the Dartmoor National Park. It sits just of the A38 at one of the main entrance routes to the South Hams area of South Devon.
It is ideally located to allow access to both the Dartmoor National Park and the stunning coastline of South Devon, close to the vibrant Elizabethan town of Totnes and in east distance of Dartmouth.
Dartmoor National Park – Dartmoor National Park is the largest area of open country in England covering some 368 square miles. It is an exceptionally beautiful place to visit at any time of the year, with wide expanses of open moorland, wooded gorges and tumbling rocky rivers.
Buckfast Abbey – A modern Benedictine Abbey with wonderful stained glass windows and gardens. The famous Buckfast tonic wine and honey can be purchased in the gift and produce shops.
The Butterfly Farm and Otter Sanctuary – Situated near the South Devon Steam Railway station. Feed the otters and enjoy the wonderful butterflies in a tropical setting. You can even be an otter keeper for the day!
South Devon Railway – Relax and enjoy the unspoilt views of the river Dart from the comfort of a South Devon Railway, steam or vintage diesel train from Buckfastleigh to Totnes.
Ashburton – A very attractive Stannary town dating from Saxon times. It has a good selection of antique and craft outlets, together with many interesting shops and eating places.
Devon Guild of Craftsmen, Bovey Tracey – The Mill is a wonderful arts and crafts centre situated in a riverside mill. It has a pleasant roof top cafe which offers good food and great countryside views.
Pennywell Farm – An award winning farm activity park with animals and activities for the whole family.
Dartington Cider Press – Fifteen stylish shops and eating places offering fine foods, traditional crafts, jewelery and pottery. Outlets includes Dartington Glass and Cranks Restaurant. A local produce market is held here every Saturday. Just 10 minutes away between Buckfastleigh and Totnes.
Dartington Hall – Superb gardens to walk in (no dogs). No entrance charge but voluntary donations are welcomed. Open to visitors from dawn to dusk.
Totnes – An Elizabethan market town with lots of interesting shops and eating places and the ruins of a Norman castle. From the quay take a relaxing boat trip to Dartmouth.
Dartmouth – Just a 40 minute drive away, Dartmouth is an attractive town full of narrow streets, art galleries, delicatessens and other interesting shops. It is home to the famous Britannia Royal Naval College.
