"Very nice in parts pity about the level of customer care"
Traveled up after bad weather bit of snow but no issues getting there in the corsa with our 11 week old. Weather forecast for the week indicated it would be -1 at night, cold but nothing out of the ordinary. No real welcome or introduction let alone a welcome pack unless you count a few wet logs. No guest book or key details e.g local pub, doctor, chemist etc. Very sparse welcome just a quick comment through the car window as owner left. She said that central heating went on at 6am and off at 10pm. When we got inside we found the central heating controls where padlocked away so we could not change any aspect of the heating. The first night the temp dropped to 10 degrees in the bedroom even with three of us in the small space, the building has very poor insulation and is badly sealed- drafts all over the shop. Having all radiators on full from 4pm till 10 made no difference. All of us were woken up by the cold we covered windows with extra blankets and put our daughter in with us. We huddled together until 6 when the heat came back....slowly. Next day we left all radiators on full all day, we bought new dry wood and an axe as none were provided. We set a huge fire and kept it going until 1am but in the bedroom nothing changed, another cold and sleepless night. To cut along story short I asked the owner if we could havE the times on the heating changed or if possible could we have an extra hour on either end. She said this wasn't possible (?) and the only option would be to turn the central heating on constantly...for a charge
of an extra £10 a night! I could only look at her in disbelief as she then told me as she unlocked the front panel and changed the settings that I would now have to turn all the radiators down from 5 to 3! I agreed because I love my child and that sort of money is nothing in comparison to her welfare but I ask you- £10 a night? My heating for
A house twice that size costs £35 a month.
To rub salt in the wound she didn't even trust us to pay her on leaving and came over the night before with a written invoice for the £40 like we were going to do a runner.
These people have no idea about customer service, we felt like a forgotten inconvenience rather than a valid guest. A poor first holiday for little Elsie.
