The Derbyshire region

At the gateway to Dovedale and the Peak National Park - In the Derbyshire Dales in the Peak District National Park

The spectacular landscapes of the Peak District, and the moving beauty of the Derbyshire Dales within it, offer some of the most inspiring scenery in Britain. You can visit nearby Carsington Water or walk or cycle on the justly renowned Tissington Trail, which starts in Ashbourne itself. There are many historic houses, such as Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Sudbury Hall, Kedleston Hall, Hardwick Hall and Calke Abbey within easy travelling distance. Both the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site and the Alton Towers theme park are only seven miles away with the Heights of Abraham, the National Tramway Museum at Crich, and the National Forest little further. No wonder 22 million visitors annually make this the second most visited National Park in the world.

Enjoy Ashbourne - Ashbourne : The Ultimate Derbyshire Destination.

Ashbourne is Derbyshire's finest Georgian Market town, little changed since the 18th Century. It's medieval street pattern with many historic buildings, hidden alleys and yards and the cobbled market place are a delight to explore; with the market, chartered since 1257, now held every Thursday and Saturday. Church St is wide, elegant and leads to the magnificent medieval parish church of St Oswald, it is generally considered to be the finest street of Georgian buildings in Derbyshire.

The town is renowned for its independent stores, designer outlets, and speciality food shops and especially the many antique dealers, art galleries and craft shops to be found, particularly in a walk down Church St,

There are more than a dozen inns and licensed restaurants within a few minutes walk of Hollybank House. There are also a variety of take-aways, with most offering free delivery. For convenience there are also branches of Waitrose, Sainsbury's and M&S Food.
