"A most welcoming and cosy retreat"

I stayed for Xmas week with my daughter and her husband to escape our saddest Xmas ever. It was perfect in every way with Emma's attention to detail evident throughout. Her information on the area before we arrived proved so helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. The cottage was extremely well equipped, clean and cosy with staples in the fridge to help get us started. There was even a decanter of port which my son in law enjoyed in front if the wood burner. Hot water constantly and although there was no shower the bath proved an excellent alternative with shower attachment to use. I'll be back.

"Very comfortable stay, in a beautiful location with a wonderful host!"

My husband, son and I stayed for three nights earlier this week ostensibly to take our son to Alton Towers for his 7th birthday. With three days in the area we were able to dilute the pretty full-on, and long day at Alton Towers (!) with visits to some of the area's wonderful attractions. We really enjoyed Derbyshire, an area we have never visited and are already planning to go back later in the year, but probably to another venue where we can bring our dog who I know would love the gorgeous countryside right on the doorstep.

The cottage itself was lovely. It was comfortable, very well equipped with soft bedding, lots of towels, good quality fixtures and fittings and a fantastic kitchen. My son and husband enjoyed the tennis court immensely and spent hours playing tennis, practicing rugby and also using the new remote controlled car Teddy had for his birthday!

Emma was a very good host. She was warm, open, friendly and low-key. Knowing it was Ted's 7th birthday she had placed a really very delicious chocolate cake with candles and plates all ready for our arrival. She had even put a Happy Birthday bunting in his bedroom - such kind and thoughtful touches. It's these things that set the property apart.

Any feedback I may have are teeny things, but it would have been great to have had some milk when we arrived. The cake was delicious but I didn't have any milk so we couldn't enjoy a nice cuppa with it! For me as well, I mentioned that a radio downstairs would be wonderful and Emma gave me the impression she agreed, so that would be a great addition. Apart from that, I loved the low key approach and if dogs were welcome we would 100% be back. But, it we're ever without the dog we'll be back in a heartbeat! Thanks Emma - we had a fabulous stay.

"Beautiful barn conversion - a peaceful and luxurious break"

Appleseed barn has been converted to a really high standard with luxurious fitting and finish and really nice touches throughout. With hotel standard towels and linens and fabulous Emma Bridewater and White Company items, this really is a home from home. The owners live on site, but let you keep to yourselves and enjoy their little in peaceful contrysie oasis in Derbyshire. They spoilt us with welcome supplies, a homemade cake and the Sunday Times! There is a shared tennis court, wonderful walks and plenty to explore. Simply put, lovely - we would definitley receommend it and hope to return soon.

"perfect gate away, beautiful barn and surroundings..."

We have just returned from a long weekend at Brailsford Barns. We booked very last minute and Emma (the delightful owner) could not have been more helpful. Detailed directions and info on the local area were provided beforehand which was great.

The barns are beautifully kitted out and the furnishings and kitchen equipment are all of the highest quality. There has clearly been a lot of love put in to their making which we greatly appreciated. It's peaceful and your privacy is completely respected. The fire is super efficient and the lounge area is very difficult to tear yourself away from!!

There is lots to see/do in the local area and more than enough to keep everyone happy. Quad biking for us was a great hit..We didn't try the local pub in Brailsford though had a lovely meal in The Saracens Head, Shirley, reasonably priced gastropub type food.

We have stayed in several self catering places in the Peaks and this has certainly been the most luxurious and we are looking forward to returning already..hopefully when the weather is slightly brighter and we can have a game of tennis!!

Thanks again.

"Very nicely finished property with plenty to do nearby"

We stayed for a whole week and spent a lot of time in the barns and enjoyed it greatly - especially the tennis court right outside the front door, which we could use in the evenings knowing our toddler was in bed within earshot!

We were made very welcome and would definitely recommend to others. We are National Trust members and there were plenty of places nearby to make use of this - including Keddleston Hall which is only a few miles way. Chatsworth House is also fairly close and easily takes a whole day to go around, including a great farm for kids.

If you have not been to this area before then this is a fine base for exploring the area and a pretty short drive from the main routes to the Derby area.
