Casa Giobatta I is built on two levels. You will have at your disposal a large

adjacent to the house, you will find a gazebo, shaded by a wood roof. The gazebo

is equipped with a table and chairs. Sitting and relaxing there, you will have

in front of you a wide view of the hills. You will enter the living room from

the garden through a large glass door. The living room is an elegant and

other has a shower.

The house is furnished in a elegant and complete way, in the characteristic

style of the Tuscan countryside. The floors are of terracotta tile, and the

ceilings have exposed wooden beams.

The house has a parking lot and is equipped with winter heating.

The location

The house is part of a seventeenth-century hamlet, made up of a noble villa, a

church and a small group of houses. All around you will only see the splendid

countryside. Indeed a large farming estate surrounded this hamlet back in the

seventeenth century, and today it still does. The estate covers more than a

thousand hectares (2470 acres) on the hills near Siena. The area is part of the

"Crete Senesi", a protected area rich of historical and natural beauties. All

around you will see low argillaceous hills that are spread out like waves in the

ocean as far as meets the eye. You will be in the middle of the most famous and

reproduced Tuscan scenery in paintings!

Here every season of the year carries its fascinating trait: in spring, hues of

light green cover the hills and lawns; in summer, the golden color of wheat

takes over the hills; and during fall, thousands of swarthy and dark green

shades dominate.

The farming estate where Casa Giobatta I is located organically grows wheat used

for the making of pasta, fodder for its own livestock, the Chianina cattle

breed, and extra-virgin olive oil.

Both villa and hamlet have been renovated into vacation houses; a process which

respected the former architectural structure of the buildings made of stones and

red bricks.

The guests of the farmhouse share a large swimming pool, a tennis court and a

children's playground.

As you arrive, look around. You will feel as if time had slowed down. There is

no traffic and there are no cars, if not your own. Here everything is beautiful,

tidy and peaceful, and it looks like it has never changed. There will be a

reception with staff at your disposal for your every need. At the reception is

also available a large lounge with sofas and a fireplace, as well as a computer

connected to the Internet.

The little church of the hamlet has been consecrated and masses are held every

Sunday at 11 a.m.

The garden, the swimming pool and the tennis court

As a guest of Casa Giobatta I you will have at your disposal, besides your

private corner in the garden, plenty of outdoor space shared with the other

guests of the hamlet.

Swimming pool, tennis court and children's playground are located at

approximately 50 meters (yard) from the apartments, in a panoramic position. The

swimming pool is 12 x 8 meters (40 x 26 feet). Around the pool there are deck

chairs and umbrellas. Once lying in the sun, your eyes will meet only lawns,

trees and flowers. A view of low and green hills will unfold before you. The air

is fresh, clean and filled with the smell of flowers and herbs. You will be able

to spend long and pleasant hours outdoors accompanied either by your friends, a

book in hands, or a glass of good Tuscan wine.

Next to the pool that is a large playground where your children will have fun

playing free. They will find it equipped with swingers, slides and a sandbox.

If you are fond of hiking, marked trekking trails will allow you to visit the

estate. You will discover places of evocative natural beauty.

The Tuscany region

Located in the heart of Italy, Tuscany is surely one of the most famous Italian landscapes. The essence of this beautiful region are its natural, artistic, and cultural heritage.

Bounded by the Ligurian and the Tyrrhenian Sea (two arms of Mediterranean), this region is divided into ten provinces, whose capitals are Arezzo, Florence, Grosseto, Livorno, Lucca, Massa-Carrara, Pisa, Pistoia, Prato and Siena. Florence is the capital city of the region itself.

The region was populated first by the Etruscans on the 7th century BC, and about 500 years later by the Romans.

The words Humanism and Renaissance evoke Tuscany, as immediately as Pope evokes Rome: just think that between the fourteenth and the sixteenth century, both these ages were born here. The entire region attained a very important artistic role.

If you are keen on art and nature… well you’re definitely in the right place! ;-)

Indeed the fathers of Italian painting, architecture and sculpture lived in this beautiful towns: such as Cimabue, Giotto, Brunelleschi, Donatello, Botticelli, Leonardo Da Vinci and Michelangelo. This is the reason why the entire region is rich in museums where thousands of amazing works are kept. You’ll be impressed by the majesty of the many ancient palaces (for examples “Palazzo Vecchio”, “Palazzo Pitti”, “Palazzo Medici”), monasteries and villas that are springing up all over the Tuscany.

Spring and fall are the best times to visit Tuscany, because the climate is mild. Bus-lines and trains connect the larger towns, but having a car would be a great advantage, and you would be easily able to enjoy the small towns and vineyards, which represent some of Tuscany’s strong points.

The “Chiantigiana road” is a must to see: it produces some of Italy’s finest wines. This is the colourful and legendary road of the “Chianti" region. The grape cultivation dates back to the Etruscan times. One of the biggest pleasures will be sipping different wines, at the wineries or at the wine bars scattered in the towns.

What about a drop in on “Mugello”? It is a countryside surrounded by oaks, chestnut trees and by the Apennines, This land of artists and painters have been source of inspiration in its farmhouses and colours. with kind people, authentic cooking, good wine, plus a great tradition in handicrafts.

The Apuan Alps are a monumental work of the nature. They consist in some of the highest peaks in the region: This regional park sets up the chance for those who want to practice trekking, cycling, horse riding or simply walking to enjoy this beautiful landscape.

Versilia is an area of 20 km sandy beaches located in the north of the region. The seaside with the colourful bathing areas is rich in bars and meeting places. Camaiore, Forte dei Marmi, Massarosa, Pietrasanta, Seravezza, Stazzema and Viareggio are the towns of this beautiful coast.

Another great attraction of this region is the archipelago. The largest island is Elba: more than one hundred kilometers of coast.

Curiously enough, since the Etruscans introduced the use of fresh herbs, the Tuscan cooking is still based on vegetable dishes, bread-based soups, meats perfumed with sage, rosemary, and thyme. Moreover the secret of its success is the good care and the devotion to guarantee the quality of the products of the land... crostini of chicken liver, soups, tortelli with Bolognese sauce, “pappardelle” with hare sauce or with boar sauce, boar hunter style, fillet of beef, salted cod with tomato sauce, ricciarelli, cantucci, Tuscan salt-less bread… We’re sure your mouth is already watering!

A holiday in Tuscany is an experience that will bring you back happy memories for the rest of your life.

Asciano

Asciano is a marvellous town under the municipality of Siena, in the Tuscany region. The town is located just between the River Ombrone and the Torrent Copra, at the center of Crete Senesi: a particular and very suggestive hill area on the south-eastern side of Siena, almost bare of vegetation, but plenty of alternating coves and “biancane” (typical clayey, porous and light-coloured soil), that seem to create a moonscape. From the Middle Age, this area was known as “Deserto di Accona” where today, thanks to some important irrigation works, it is possible the cultivation of wheat and sunflowers.

Asciano has Etruscan and Roman origins: you will in fact be able to admire a fascinating Etruscan necropolis, dated back at the V century BC and the remains of Roman baths. The town used to be contended between Siena and Florence in the Battle of Montaperti, until 1285, when it was conquered by Siena and surrounded by boundary walls in 1351, in order to protect it from further invasions.

You cannot miss the Romanesque collegiate church of St Agata, which is the most important church in Asciano. It dates back at XII-XIX century and it's composed by a nave with apsis transept, covered by cross vaults. On the left you will find the marvellous Lombard bell-tower. The façade is divided into three parts by ogive arches. The church reveals inside, two masterpieces, two sixteenth century frescos: a Madonna with the Infant Jesus, the Archangel Michael and the donor, made by disciples of Sodoma; and the Pietà, maybe attributable to Riccio.

Beside the Collegiate Church of St Agata there is the Museum of Holy Art, an exhibition of works dated at XIV and XV centuries, made by painters of the Sienese school. The Archaeological Museum contains remains from a number of tombs of the Poggio Pinci cemetery.

Moving to the South, a large Benedictine monastery overlooks the hill of Monte Oliveto Maggiore, which is famous for being the original village for the locals: the Olivetans. The monastery was named Monte Oliveto Maggiore to distinguish it from successive foundations at Florence, San Gimignano, Naples and elsewhere. Nowadays, It is still the mother house of the order or congregation.

Talking about events and local culture, we have to remind every tourist to enjoy and fully live the Ascianese September, which is when the town gets alive thanks to variegate program of typical markets, parties and concerts.

There is a famous exhibition of clay pots which take place every second Sunday of the month in the old centre of the town. You will find not only pots, but also organic food and wine from the local area as well as handicrafts.
