11 Bond Street
About the home
Number 11 Bond Street was built in the 1860s as accommodation for the servants of the castle. Now a cosy holiday retreat, the cottage is an ideal base to explore the Arundel and other delightful towns and villages in West Sussex.
You can be walking on the South Downs within five minutes of leaving the cottage, or can be on the beach within fifteen. The South Downs Wetland Reserve is just 20 minutes away or, if you prefer, you can be in Brighton within 40 minutes, and shopping in the Lanes. If you want to a more relaxed holiday, the cottage has a private rear garden with beautiful views down to the English Channel. A barbecue is provided for the warmer summer evenings.
The cottage is also a convenient base for the many special events in the region, including Goodwood Festival of Speed, The Goodwood Revival, The Arundel Festival, The Brighton Festival, Racing at Fontwell and Goodwood, and many, many others.
The cottage is in the centre of Arundel, which is built on a steep hill. Getting into the town from the cottage is easy because it is downhill, but getting back up is not so easy!

The Arundel area
Arundel is a small market town with a population of some 3,000. Steeped in history, it is well placed for easy access to both the South Coast and the countryside. There is a wide range of activities on offer in the area, from the leisurely to the more energetic.
The cottage is in the heart of the town, within walking distance of the castle, cathedral, antique shops, Farmers Market, restaurants, and tea rooms. The Arundel Wetlands Centre is an easy 20 minute walk to the north of the town. The beach in Littlehampton is a quick drive away, where you can windsurf, kite surf, sail or just watch the world go by.
If it's history you are after, Arundel Castle is a short walk from the cottage and is one of the great treasure houses of England, home to priceless works of art. Bosham, where King Canute famously attempted to turn back the tide when he grew tired of the flattery of the locals, is within half an hour's drive. The cottage is also a convenient base for the many special events in the region, including Goodwood Festival of Speed, The Goodwood Revival, The Arundel Festival, The Brighton Festival, Racing at Fontwell and Goodwood, and many, many others.
