About the home

Casa Mila is well furnished and generously equipped and the amazing ocean views from most rooms lift the soul; it is a perfect home from home. Children are particularly well catered for, and the heated pool has a large shallow step. The covered pergola has a teak dining table and chairs allowing you to enjoy al fresco eating.

Sea bathing, fishing and rock pool exploration are all on the doorstep, and the village is delightfully unspoilt, but not isolated. Many major tourist attractions are within 15 minute's drive. Enjoy the magic of relaxing in the hot tub to the sound of the sea.

The modern kitchen is well equipped and leads into the dining area. Patio doors from the living room give access to the covered pergola, with steps down to the patio, pool and hot tub. Also on the ground floor is the family room; this is equipped with a double sofa bed, PS2, video player and second flat screen TV. It can be used as a fourth bedroom for children, or as a separate reception room. The dining area, living room and family room have superb ocean views There is also a bathroom on this floor.

Upstairs are 3 bedrooms; the master bedroom has a king size bed and there are also two twin bedded rooms , all with air conditioning and generous wardrobe space. All the bedrooms also enjoy amazing sea views. We suppply bath and pool towels for each member of the party, and bathrobes for adults. There are two modern bathrooms on this floor, one with a Darryl walk in shower, the other with a corner bath with shower over.

For small children we provide 2 turtle pool alarms, bed guard, stair gate, back carrier, bottle sterilizer, baby alarms, travel cot and bedding, high chair, 2 children's booster seats, coolbox, rucksack .and beach toys.

Older children enjoy a PS2 and flat screen TV in the family room /4th bedroom.

The final clean is included, there are no extras.

The heated pool has a chlorine-free sterilisation system. Eight sunloungers and two sun umbrellas are provided on the poolside patios, and the garden is completely walled and gated. A gas BBQ and teak dining table and chairs are provided. There is also seating in the corner of the garden which catches the last rays of the sun - this is known as 'gin corner', the perfect spot for a sundowner! Four bicycles are available, two for adults and two for children On street parking is available outside the villa.

The Housekeeper is English, lives locally and will make contact with you shortly after your arrival. The pool and hot tub maintenance manager is also English and lives in the village.

Conditions

The villa is available only for families and couples. It is not available for bookings from single sex groups or groups of young people.

Casa Mila is a no smoking villa.

30% deposit is required to reserve the villa, with the balance due 1 calendar monh before the holiday start date.

Changeover day usually Thursday, but can be flexible.

We will try to accommodate early/late flights whenever possible, but normal entry time is 4pm, and we would ask you to vacate by 10am to allow time for cleaning and maintenance.

The Lanzarote region

Casa Mila is situated in the lovely North East corner of the island, a world apart from the the more commercialised resorts, yet many of the major tourist attractions are within a 15 minute drive - the aqua park and golf course at Costa Teguise, the Caesar Manrique Foundation and Manrique's best known works - Jameos del Agua, the Green Caves, the Mirador del Rio and the Cactus Gardens.

The ferry to the charming little island of La Graciosa (still like Lanzarote was 20 years ago) sails daily from Orzola, about 12 kms away. The ferry trip takes 20 minutes and gives magnificent views of the sea cliffs of the north of Lanzarote. In Guinate there is a Tropical Park which has exotic birds, parrot shows, reptiles and play areas (approx 15 min drive).

Within the Timanfaya National Park the visitor centre runs coach trips amongst the volcanos and lava fields (30 min drive) The nearest tourist resort is Costa Teguise, about 15 kms away, which has an ample choice of shops, supermarkets, restaurants, bars and beaches as well as medical centres, banks and cash points.

The capital, Arrecife, also offers a wealth of attractions, plus a town beach currently holding a blue flag award. Surfers will want to visit Farmara, 30 minutes drive away, famous for its surf, surf schools and wild cliffs. If you would like to visit the south of the island, there is now an excellent road through the centre of the island which means you can drive down to the southern tip in approximately an hour.

The Arrieta / Punta Mujeres area

Punta Mujeres is a delightful working village with a maze of narrow streets which end at the sea, and a very authentic Spanish charm. There are several restaurants (Las Tres Lunas next door couldn't be more convenient!), a seafront tapas bar, small supermarkets and a coffee shop/patisserie all within walking distance.

The village has several natural swimming pools set amongst its rocky seaward boundary which allow easy sea access for swimming and snorkelling. These pools are an important part of village life and are used by everyone from babies to great-grandmothers! The nearest sea swimming pool is 50 metres from Casa Mila..
Steps give access to the foreshore for rockpool exploration and fishing, and you can walk along the wild shoreline to the headland at Jameos del Agua. Bird watchers might enjoy the varied seabird life on the foreshore (we saw three spoonbills on our last visit), and in Summer we have bought fresh fish from the small fishing boats returning to the village slipway.

There is a small, sandy harbour beach at Arrieta (15 min walk) as well as the main La Garita beach with restaurant and toilet facilities (5 min drive). Enjoy completely non-commercial white sand beaches towards Orzola, the best of which has calm, shallow lagoons for swimming and paddling within a 10 min drive, and Orzola itself has a lovely beach and surf break. The old town of Haria, ten minutes drive away, has some excellent restaurants as well as a weekly craft market and Teguise, a beautiful little town with some interesting shops, is well worth a weekday wander round, as well as a visit to the well known Sunday market.

Fly to Arrecife from London or regional airports, flight time is under 4 hours.

Budget airlines flying to Lanzarote include Ryanair, Easyjet, Aer Lingus, First Choice, Thomas Cook and Monarch.

Journey time from the airport to the villa is about 30 minutes

Hired cars can be collected at the airport from Cabrera Medina, , Auto Reisen, Plus Car and many others.

Taxis are easily available from the airport for up to 4 persons.

“Quite simply the best villa we have ever stayed in!” When we arrived at Casa Mila we could not believe our luck! Both the interior and exterior are stunning,with everything you could wish for provided. The villa overlooks the sea, with a beautiful heated pool and hot tub.There was nothing better than playing in the pool or sitting in the hot tub,listening to the sounds of the sea literally metres away ! With teenagers ,a grown up daughter ,myself and husband ,I can honestly say there was something to suit everyone at Casa Mila. Plenty of comfy patio furniture,the pool,hot tub,stylish well equiped interior,internet access,Sky TV and the playstation!! The village is quiet with several restaurants(only open at lunch time during our stay) ,however 2 minutes drive or approx 15min walk is a larger village,where we ate out on several evenings. There are lovely walks along the sea front ,with 'sea pools' to swim in ,just a few minutes walk from the villa. Car hire is essential and whilst we did explore Lanzarote,I can honestly say we did not find anywhere else as beautiful as Casa Mila, for a holiday.We will be returning as soon as possible!

“This villa is fantastic, an ideal retreat in a quiet village with restaurants nearby.” The villa was in a fantastic location with beautiful views out to sea and was well equipped both inside and out. The heated pool was wonderful and whilst we didn't have children with us, we could see the benefits of sitting on the terrace sofas or around the outside table, while the children play in the pool. My colleagues who came with us had not stayed in a self catering villa before and they are now sold on the concept! The property is big enough for 8 people, 6 would be ideal and was pure luxury for our party of 4. Granted if you want “All you can eat Chinese Buffet” or good old English pubs and English breakfast, Punta Majures is not for you. If however you want a traditional village, very friendly locals, nice restaurants/bars, fantastic tapas and views to die for – come here, you will not be disappointed with the property or the support from the owner. One thing to note is that most restaurants in Punta Majures do not open in the evening during the Winter months, but this is not a problem since restaurants in Arrieta (about 10/15 mins walk away) are open until about 8 or 9 pm. There is a wonderful restaurant next door which does not interfere in anyway with the privacy of the villa.

“Heaven by the ocean.” Our first stay at this beautiful villa, although we have stayed in Punta Mujeres several times before. We have already booked a stay for next year, it was that good!. We have been staying in villas around Lanzarote for about 10 years now and this is probably the best equipped one that we've come across (could do with more coffee mugs and some tea-cups & saucers for us Brits! ). The location is perfect, right by the rocky shore, with a very nice resturant next door (which closes at 9pm, so no late night noise.) The whole village is very quiet, so if you want night life, not the place for you., but a wonderful place to just chill and relax.

“Great House in a stunning location” The house is just ideal for a Lanzarote holiday. The facilities it offers are first class whether for a family or just a group of friends. The beds are comfortable and the bathrooms ideal. The ground floor has a big living/dining area with just a few steps to the pool. The shoreline is only metres away, but rocky so that swimming is not possible there, but multiple beaches are within walking distance. Shops and restaurants too. Plenty to explore from the car you'll need to hire - the Lanzarote landscape is varied and dramatic. The nearest beach resort is only 15/20 minutes away if that's what you like, but we kept to the other attractions, like the valley of the vines and the splendidly remote beaches.
