The Canary Islands region
Casa Mila is situated in the lovely North East corner of the island, a world apart from the the more commercialised resorts, yet many of the major tourist attractions are within a 15 minute drive - the aqua park and golf course at Costa Teguise, the Caesar Manrique Foundation and Manrique's best known works - Jameos del Agua, the Green Caves, the Mirador del Rio and the Cactus Gardens.
The ferry to the charming little island of La Graciosa (still like Lanzarote was 20 years ago) sails daily from Orzola, about 12 kms away. The ferry trip takes 20 minutes and gives magnificent views of the sea cliffs of the north of Lanzarote. In Guinate there is a Tropical Park which has exotic birds, parrot shows, reptiles and play areas (approx 15 min drive).
Within the Timanfaya National Park the visitor centre runs coach trips amongst the volcanos and lava fields (30 min drive) The nearest tourist resort is Costa Teguise, about 15 kms away, which has an ample choice of shops, supermarkets, restaurants, bars and beaches as well as medical centres, banks and cash points.
The capital, Arrecife, also offers a wealth of attractions, plus a town beach currently holding a blue flag award. Surfers will want to visit Farmara, 30 minutes drive away, famous for its surf, surf schools and wild cliffs. If you would like to visit the south of the island, there is now an excellent road through the centre of the island which means you can drive down to the southern tip in approximately an hour.
Punta Mujeres is a delightful working village with a maze of narrow streets which end at the sea, and a very authentic Spanish charm. There are several restaurants (Las Tres Lunas next door couldn't be more convenient!), a seafront tapas bar, small supermarkets and a coffee shop/patisserie all within walking distance.
The village has several natural swimming pools set amongst its rocky seaward boundary which allow easy sea access for swimming and snorkelling. These pools are an important part of village life and are used by everyone from babies to great-grandmothers! The nearest sea swimming pool is 50 metres from Casa Mila..
Steps give access to the foreshore for rockpool exploration and fishing, and you can walk along the wild shoreline to the headland at Jameos del Agua. Bird watchers might enjoy the varied seabird life on the foreshore (we saw three spoonbills on our last visit), and in Summer we have bought fresh fish from the small fishing boats returning to the village slipway.
There is a small, sandy harbour beach at Arrieta (15 min walk) as well as the main La Garita beach with restaurant and toilet facilities (5 min drive). Enjoy completely non-commercial white sand beaches towards Orzola, the best of which has calm, shallow lagoons for swimming and paddling within a 10 min drive, and Orzola itself has a lovely beach and surf break. The old town of Haria, ten minutes drive away, has some excellent restaurants as well as a weekly craft market and Teguise, a beautiful little town with some interesting shops, is well worth a weekday wander round, as well as a visit to the well known Sunday market.

We were delighted to spend a wonderful two weeks at Casa Mila. The location is fantastic and facilities first class, comfortably accommodating our party of 7 adults. The sea views are superb and we thoroughly enjoyed simply being able to walk over the road, with a snorkel and mask and then just dropping into the clear blue water. The amount of sealife to see was incredible. A similar location in Portugal or France or mainland Spain would be considerably more expensive and this is easily as good! Punto Majeres is a perfect location to explore the island and easily reached in 30mins from the airport. We ate out in the neighbouring town of Arietta at a restaurant highly recommended by the owner and it was one of the best meals we have ever had although the restaurants themselves tend to be quiet in the evenings. If you want a bit more nightlife Costa Teguise can be driven too within around 20 minutes. Overall one of the best holidays we have ever had, highly recommended!

"Excellent Villa in Punta Mujeres"
Punta Mujetes is a small fishing village. We have stayed here a few times, but this year the Villa is owned by an Italian couple who have enhanced the Villa in a subtle but good way . We visited with six adults this year and the Villa has plenty of room for all of us. Definitely a villa we will come to again

"Casa Mila is the most beautiful villa we've ever stayed in!"
I can't rate this villa too highly. Everything about it is ideal - it is right by the sea and you wake up in the morning to hear the waves against the shore and a glorious view of blue sea and sky. The villa is very well equipped, with everything that our family (myself, husband, two daughters and partners and one nine month old grandson) needed. Even with six of us and baby, the villa feels so spacious that we never felt on top of each other. The pool area is beautiful and we had several barbecues (barbecue provided) on the terrace. The three bathrooms were a real plus with a party of our size and they and all the accommodation were very clean and well presented. The other good aspect of this villa is that the owners could not have been more helpful. In particular, we realised very belatedly that with a young baby and a very late flight home it would be ideal if we didn't have to leave until after 17.00h instead of the lunchtime checkout as per our agreement. Lavinia was very flexible and accommodating of this and what could have been a really stressful last day was instead spent quietly enjoying the sun before returning home. Punta Mujeres is not at all commercialised which was exactly what we wanted. Having said that the restaurant next door was excellent as were the several bars we visited. There is a small supermarket close by which can provide most necessities and a take away pizza place that we enjoyed one evening. Another point about the next door restaurant is that in no way impinged on our enjoyment of the villa - noise levels never got above a pleasant hum of conversation. For us it was a real pleasure to only hear a very few english voices while we were there. Would recommend a visit to the Aloe Vera Museum (yes really!) My husband came back an absolute convert to it's wonderful properties and many uses!

"Nice house right by the sea"
Casa Mila is a nice house situated in the very pretty north of Lanzarote in a quiet village. The house itself looks right over the sea and has a pretty garden with a nice swimming pool and hot tub. The house is well equipped and spacious. Plenty of good cutlery, crockery and cooking equipment. There is a restaurant immediately next door but this closes at the end of the afternoon and was not noisy. A good selection of restaurants is available in the neighbouring larger village which is a 15 minute walk away. The owner is easy to deal with and this was a hassle free rental. Good and clear information about the house and the surrounding area was provided in advance. The only bad point was the very intermittent WiFi as mentioned by other reviewers. Also it would be good to have more English channels on the satellite TV as only a couple of news channels were available. All in all we really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely consider returning to both this part of Lanzarote and to Casa Mila.
WI-FI internet connection at Casa Mila may be choppy and intermittent at times. It's a fact you have to cope with when choosing Lanzarote and Punta Mujeres as a holiday destination. Said that if the connection internet connection gets very bad, I can provide (at no extra cost) a Mobile WIFI device that works very well. Guests are informed of this and just need to contact me, and in maximum 24 hours the device is in the house.

We really enjoyed our stay in Casa Mila. The house is very spacious, tastefully furnished and spotless. The location is amazing with beautiful sea views and a lovely garden. The swimming pool is big and we also enjoyed the swirl pool when the weather was a bit cooler. We found everything we needed in the house also for our two little children. The owners Lavinia and Gualtiero were extremely nice and helpful and made our stay smooth and easy. They even provided us with a guide, which they wrote, with lots of suggestions about restaurants and local attractions that was very accurate and useful. We are planning to go there again and we will definitely recommend Casa Mila to our friends and family.

"Very well-kept, well-equipped villa in quiet location"
Had a great stay at Casa Mila, one of the most well organised and well-equipped holiday rentals that I've had. Much toddler/baby equipment is provided which made our visit with our 2 year old daughter that much easier. Owner very helpful and responsive too. Very quiet location which suited us, and we'd definitely consider returning.

"The best ocean front villa on Lanzarota"
Until we stayed at Casa Mila for the first time seven years ago, I had always been of the opinion that you should only visit a place once and that there is always somewhere better to be discovered. Now, I have to admit that have one exception to this rule having just returned from our third visit to Casa Mila and looking forward to our next stay. A truly great ocean front property in a quiet village, built to a very high standard in a very pleasing architectural style and tastfully decorated with flair and imagination. The same goes for the lovelly garden with heated pool, hot tub, abundance of loungers and many other 'creature comforts'. Also, worthy of mention is the house keeper Julie, who keeps the house immaculate and Ken who looks after the pool, hot tub and gardens. They both have worked at the villa for many years and are very professionally in their approach. Both live only a short distance from the villa so are only a phone call away should you ever need them. Finally, but just as important to us is the efficiency of the owners, with the booking and supplying detailed information of the area etc etc. who respond to any emails usually within a few hours and in excellent English! If you stay here, trust me, you will not be disappointed.

"Asolutely fantastic in every way"
I have travelled to Lanzarote for 40+ years. This was one of our best visits ever. The location is not one for people who want entertainment of bars and clubs. The village is just a fishing village but with good restaurants and basic shops. The villa has everything, very well maintained with great English support if needed. I have nothing but praise all round. The position is wonderful, listening to the sea from the house and poolside was so relaxing. The restaurants locally close early, unusual for the island. You can easily walk to the little supermarket/ café up at the top of the Palenke restaurant road, where they bake their own bread. A real find. All information given in advance was very useful. Cant wait to go back

"Quite simply the best villa we have ever stayed in!"
When we arrived at Casa Mila we could not believe our luck! Both the interior and exterior are stunning, with everything you could wish for provided. The villa overlooks the sea, with a beautiful heated pool and hot tub. There was nothing better than playing in the pool or sitting in the hot tub, listening to the sounds of the sea literally metres away ! With teenagers ,a grown up daughter ,myself and husband ,I can honestly say there was something to suit everyone at Casa Mila. Plenty of comfy patio furniture, the pool, hot tub, stylish well equiped interior, internet access,Sky TV and the playstation!! The village is quiet with several restaurants(only open at lunch time during our stay) ,however 2 minutes drive or approx 15min walk is a larger village, where we ate out on several evenings. There are lovely walks along the sea front ,with 'sea pools' to swim in ,just a few minutes walk from the villa. Car hire is essential and whilst we did explore Lanzarote,I can honestly say we did not find anywhere else as beautiful as Casa Mila, for a holiday. We will be returning as soon as possible!

"This villa is fantastic, an ideal retreat in a quiet village with restaurants nearby."
The villa was in a fantastic location with beautiful views out to sea and was well equipped both inside and out. The heated pool was wonderful and whilst we didn’t have children with us, we could see the benefits of sitting on the terrace sofas or around the outside table, while the children play in the pool. My colleagues who came with us had not stayed in a self catering villa before and they are now sold on the concept! The property is big enough for 8 people, 6 would be ideal and was pure luxury for our party of 4. Granted if you want “All you can eat Chinese Buffet” or good old English pubs and English breakfast, Punta Majures is not for you. If however you want a traditional village, very friendly locals, nice restaurants/bars, fantastic tapas and views to die for – come here, you will not be disappointed with the property or the support from the owner. One thing to note is that most restaurants in Punta Majures do not open in the evening during the Winter months, but this is not a problem since restaurants in Arrieta (about 10/15 mins walk away) are open until about 8 or 9 pm. There is a wonderful restaurant next door which does not interfere in anyway with the privacy of the villa.
