Nestled among ancient oak and chestnut trees at the end of a picturesque valley with a beautiful view of the Pyrennees, the morning birdsong or calls of owls and crickets in the evenings is all that disturbs the peace. The gite is part of what was once the wine 'chai' for this rural property and still retains it's old beams and stone masonry whilst offering all modern conveniences and comforts. Guests often comment that this gite is a 'great find' and feels more like a home than a rental property in very serene surroundings.
And of course there is the sparkling pool surrounded by parasols and comfortable loungers with the 'summer kitchen' and pool BBQ at the disposal of gite guests, who normally have the pool all to themselves. With some luck you may even see the soaring kites and other birds of prey floating on the air currents above you and the magnificent Pyrenees in front! There is a double sized lounger which is perfect for stargazing on warm evenings.
Discreetly located away from the main house, the gite is light and airy and with its thick stone walls stays cool even on the warmest days. Tastefully decorated and furnished, it presents a wonderful place from which to explore the surrounding countryside, wineries, local markets, the historic city of Pau or to venture further afield to the mountains, the Basque country, Lourdes, the Atlantic beaches, Biarritz, St Jean de Luz or St Sebastian in Spain, all of which are within a day's journey. Golf, trout and salmon fishing, river rafting, tennis and surfing, waterskiing and waterboarding are all available in the region. Wine tasting and tours of the wineries and vineyards are offered by many of the vintners.
Less strenuous pursuits include frequent brocante/antique fairs and fine dining at several Michelin starred restaurants including Michel Guerard's 3* 'Eugenie les Bains' and its associate restaurant 'La Ferme au Grives' surrounded by its stunning gardens. There are many music festivals during the summer - notably the famed International Jazz Festival at Marciac in August which is only 40 minutes away.
For those who wish to relax closer to home there are many lovely wooded walks - the lane in front of the property is on the well known 'Promenade des Orchidees' which abounds with wild orchids in May. A medieval chateau, once frequented by one of the Muscateers and the Knights Templer is just up the hill. A short walk down to the end of the property reveals the river Lees- suitable for a bit of paddling and hopeful fishermen.
There are only two horses who live here full time but if you are contemplating a holiday with your horse/s, there is also stabling and a large indoor school at the property which can be made available to guests. Please check our website for further details.
Should you be travelling with friends, B & B can be made available in the main house for up to 6 people.
The local village is 7km away and offers all amenities. Due to the steep hill which rises out of the valley towards the village, a car is strongly recommended.
The owners are English/French speaking and you can be assured a very warm welcome and our committment to assisting you in any possible way to make your holiday special.

The Bearn region
Centrally located in the southern region known for its foie gras, Madiran and Jurancon wines, scenic wooded rolling hills and valleys, mountain views, the pilgrim's trail of St. Jacques de la Compostelle and of course the generous amount of sunshine and warm weather often stretching well into November, there is something for everyone and all within easy reach of no more than 1 1/2 hours for varied day trips.
These could include the Pyrenees offering spectacular mountain walks, river rafting, canoing, the largest observatory in Europe atop the 2877m Pic du Midi and the ski resorts La Mongie, Bareges and Gourette to name but a few; Biarritz and St Jean de Luz for shopping and the Atlantic beaches for surfing; the colorful Basque region; St. Sebastian and Honorabia in Spain and Lourdes. The property is only 35 minutes from the beautiful city of Pau with it's historic castle, annual Grand Prix, including racing with vintage cars in May and the 4* Three Day Event in October. Any visit to Pau should begin with a meal or a drink at one of the many restaurants and cafes on the Boulevard des Pyrenees with the majestic Pyrenees in full view.
Wildlife abounds in this unspoiled corner of South West France and is a birdwatcher's paradise.
The Armagnac region is within an hour to the north and the Bordeaux wineries can be reached in two hours.
The local town of Lembeye, less than 10 minutes away provides all amenities including a supermarket, two bakeries and several restaurants and bars. The charming market town of Aire sur l'Adour provides the visitor with wonderful shops specialising in local products and wine and an excellent market two days per week. The Madiran and St. Mont wine regions are within 15-30 minutes. Most wineries offer tasting and personal tours. There are numerous festivals during the summer and autumn - Marciac Jazz Festival and Madiran wine festival both in mid August.

"Truly Delightful place"
The Gite is set in a lovely location with a stunning view of the mountains on clear days. Easy to find following owners directions from Toulouse airport. Car is essential though as it is in a very rural location. The gite had everything you need for your stay, and the owner was very helpful and friendly without being intrusive, and left us a lovely welcome basket of bread, wine, cheese and fruits. We only stayed for a few days and we would have liked to have stayed longer and taken advantage of the pool. Would recommend this place to couples wanting to explore the pyrenees region. in our 3 days we went to Biarritz, Pau, Lourdes and the mountain villages. Only negative was that the wi-fi didn't work on our i-phones, so no access to the internet, perhaps a booster in the gite would help.
The gite now has its own livebox installed, which will solve the problem of WiFi access.

"perfect little house in beautiful location"
What makes this little house so special apart from the beautiful location and tranquil surroundings is the stylish way the owner has furnished this little house. It is comfortable and a real home for the holiday and not just a rental property. We absolutely loved the grounds, the marvellous pool and the lovely area., not to mention the amazing weather.

"A Haven of peace and tranquility"
We had a wonderful time at this pretty little cottage/gite surrounded by the most beautiful gardens. Pamela made us really welcome with a food basket and flowers in our cottage.
The pool was amazing and, as we were the only guests, we had it all to ourselves, snoozing on our very comfortable beds and swimming in the pool was divine. There are loads of places to visit and we went to Lourdes, Biarritz and lots of pretty villages nearby.
We certainly would recommend this as a very special place to visit

"Simply perfect for a quiet break away from it all.... but with the Pyrenees and coast close by"
Easy flight to Toulouse and hired a car to travel to the Gite. Warmly welcomed by the owner with a glass of bubbly each after she had directed us in.
The Gite was perfectly equipped including a welcome basket of essential bread, cheese and a bottle to keep us going over the first night. The bed was extremely comfortable and the powerful shower was a delight to use. There was an excellent supermarket only a few miles away.
The secluded swimming pool was just the right temperature and swimming under the stars at midnight was an awe inspiring experience for both of us as the lack of light pollution meant that there were literally thousands of stars in the sky.
There were plenty of leaflets for local activities but we had already decided to go to the Atlantic coast at Biarritz for a day and also up into the Pyrenees for another day. Both were within easy driving distance and the TomTom satnav for Iphone worked faultlessly. The owner was readily on hand to answer any queries about the local area without being intrusive.
WIFI was available but the signal was extremely weak in the Gite but we were offered the use of the main house terrace where the signal was considerably stronger.
We could have easily spent a lot longer but sadly had to return home all too soon.

"Charming, comfortable, tranquil, pretty, atmospheric - a real 'find'."
What a location. If you're looking for peace and tranquility in beautiful surroundings, yet accessibility to Pyrenees, Lourdes, Pau, Biarritz etc plus endless lovely local villages and vistas, then this is the place for you. A very comfortable and charming gite with unbelievable views of the Pyrenees, in the grounds of the most beautiful rose and jasmin bordered pool area and stunning main house/gardens. What a feast for the senses. Pamela made us feel so welcome in a very relaxed and natural way. We were sad to leave and will be back.

"Delightful ,Relaxing, Just What we Needed"
Having Chosen to spend our first Christmas away, we could not have choosen a more relaxing and peaceful place to stay. On arrival the Pam and David's greeting made us feel so welcome and for that time of the year very warm. The splendid view of the Mountains was such a lovely sight to wake up to each morning and we must now think hard about our summer vacation as it must be even more beautiful in the summer and the pool would be an added bonus.

"A beautiful rural property with excellent facilities and friendly hosts"
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Pamela and Davids gite. They were both very accomodating and helpful- booking restaurants, organising activities and even lending laptops and DVDs!
The gite was comfortable and reasonably well equipped although perhaps cooking facilities could have been slightly improved. The terrace was a great place to have dinner and watch the stars. The pool area was beautiful and we had it virtually to ourselves the entire holiday. We loved relaxing with a glass of wine on the poolside beds.
We were able to drive to both the Atlantic coast and the Pyrenees and would recommend both to any visitor. However, be prepared to drive for a least 1 1/2 hrs to both. The gite is in the heart of wine country too and a tour of the vineyards is a must.
Our holiday was everything we had hoped for- lots of French food, wine, sightseeing and relaxing and I would recommend this gite to anyone looking to stay in a beautiful part of rural France.

"Lovely. Quiet and relaxing."
Comfortable clean gite in a very pretty setting. A bit tricky to find. Nice pool with comfortable and stylish furniture. Pleasant and helpful hosts. Short drive to towns and villages for supermarkets and restaurants. Days out to spectacular Pyrennees about an hour and a half drive. Pretty rolling country side. Would recommend it for a quiet relaxing break. There are two dogs who are friendly and quiet but will guests pay guests a visit.
