Situated in the traditional alpine village of Langwies, the cosey Chalet is ideally placed between the popular ski resort of Arosa (15 minutes by car) and Chur, the historic regional capital of Graubunden. The Arosa ski pass also includes the train fare to Langwies station which is in walking distance of the Chalet.
The chalet is a family holiday home where guests can enjoy a personal atmosphere. Well maintained roads allow easy access to the ski slopes in Arosa, the village shop in Langwies, or the sledging runs in nearby St. Peter. If guests prefer they can use the local train. The station is 10 minutes walk and has regular connections to Arosa and Chur. The ticket to Arosa is included in your ski pass!
The local shop, restaurant, hairdresser and tourist office are all within 10 minutes walking distance from the Chalet. Assistance is always nearby in the form of René, our friendly caretaker, who is available at (nearly) all times to help with any questions our guests might have relating to either the Chalet or the local area. In the interests of all our guests, pets are not permitted and we ask that guests do not smoke inside the Chalet.
The Swiss Alps / Graubunden/Alps region

Arosa is a settlement of the Walser, founded in the Middle Ages. Nowadays Arosa is a very touristic place, in winter and summer. The rest of the Valley is much quieter and less touristic. Beside tourisme agriculture still plays an important part here. Birds are everywhere but the slope on the eastern side between Langwies and Arosa seems to be the best area. There are a lot of hiking trails. You can start in Langwies and walk up to Medergen, from where you continue to Tschuggen, pass through the forest to Gruenseeli, Iselwald and then down to Arosa. Buy a map of the area (1:25'000) not to get lost.
At the little artifical lake beneath Arosa Waders can be seen sometimes. At the railway station several species of Ducks can be found. They all descend from introduced birds. If you spend two or three days in the area you should find at least some of the harder to find species.
The Arosa / Chur area
For skiers and snowboarders, Arosa offers 60 km of prepared pistes and 40 km of off-piste areas and there are 13 modern ski lifts or cable cars to take visitors up to as much as 2,653 metres above sea level. There are also attractive routes for snow-shoe trekkers and toboggan riders, a fun park on the Tschuggen for freestyle snow boarders and, nearby, a world class half pipe. For non-skiers there are 60 km of winter walking trails, some of which lead to the winter sports areas. Other popular activities include curling, tandem paragliding and ballooning.
Arosa, some 1,800 metres above sea level and located at the end of the Schanfigg Valley, is not only a winter resort but its imposing mountain landscape makes it a perfect hiking region. There are more than 200 walking, hiking and mountain trails and amongst the most popular are the two hour round trip to the Langwieser Aussicht viewpoint, the 2.2 km Planet Pathway and the Isel natural history footpath, which leads to the Altein Waterfall. Further attractions include the water show and boat trips on the on the Obersee, swimming in the Untersee and much more.
