The house is in the Correze which is the most southerly department of Limousin. It's perfect for all outdoor pursuits, such as skiing which is about 2 hours away. Locally you can go swimming in lakes, find art galleries, churches, chateaus, museums and porcelain shops. On your doorstop you have France's National Stud, ideal for all you horse lovers out there.
Its also a wonderfull area to visit in autumn and winter, walking, cycling or in the car, there are so many things to see and do, and when you get home you can enjoy the warmth of a wood burning stove and central heating.
Especially worth a visit is Segur le Chateau which is 4 miles away. It is officially one of the most beautiful villages in France, take a picnic or sit in the pub by the river and enjoy the views.
The Arnac-Pompadour area
The house is located in a quiet part of the old quarter of the historic small town of Pompadour. It is one of the most beautiful small towns in France, and everything is available within easy walking or driving distance. Lidl and Super U supermarkets, butchers, chemist, bakery, doctor's surgery and dentist are all a short walk away. For horse lovers, a stud farm is open to visitors and the village plays host to equestrian ring events between March and October. There is a national race track approximately 5 minutes walk away and they hold Olympic level events through the summer, and every Sunday there are race meetings, an annual donkey day and a ladies day at the races. Details for all events are available at the house. Its a horse lovers paradise.
