The Cotswolds region
This region of England has many historic building & places of interest to visit no matter what the weather! It's also a 'walkers' paradise, with some amazing views from the surrounding hills over Warwickshire & Gloucestershire. Armscote lies just off the Fosse Way, an old Roman road which runs from Bath northwards. The beautiful town of Stratford upon Avon ( just 8 miles away) has its own special charm, with its riverside location. Take a boat out for the afternoon, or enjoy afternoon tea at the many special tearooms dotted around the area. Or why not visit Shakespeare's Theatre for that special treat. Warwick Castle is only 20 mins. drive away where you could spend a whole day exploring the ancient town. Very picturesque!
Travelling the opposite direction, you'll find yourself in the COTSWOLD VILLAGES, just 8 miles away, or just walk from The Cottage & enjo the peaceful surroundings.
Stratford has riverside markets every Sunday which adds to the atmosphere, and every Thursday in December, there are street Christmas Markets.
You'll find many quaint english tea-rooms & coffee-shops in this area plus great boutique shops for the ladies! At Stow-on-the-Wold you'll be amazed by the unusual antique shops & little shopping arcades. Locally in Shipston-on-Stour & Stratford, there is a wonderful leisure centre with large swimming pool, ideal for rainy days for the children. If you want to treat yourselves, there are numerous good eating places within just a few miles of The Cottage, the nearest being THE FUZZY DUCK just 2 minutes walk away in the village. They serve good food. You'll be spoilt for choice of where to eat in this area!

"Cosy, comfortable and relaxing."
Lovely little cottage for a quiet getaway. It has everything you need. Kettle, comfy chairs, bed and a warm fire. Short walk to a nice pub and open fields.
Would definitely use again.

"Lovely stay in a cosy cottage"
My 2 friends and I only had a weekend, but really enjoyed staying in the cosy, well equipped cottage. The owners were very welcoming and we would certainly book it again.
The Cottage is ideal for long or short breaks at any time of year. Being a typical Cotswold stone Cottage, it exudes warmth & charm, making it an excellent base for that quiet relaxing break or time to visit local places of interest. Maybe you can visit for longer next time! We love to welcome guests old & new! Thank you for your comments.

"The ideal Cotswold cottage!"
Armscote cottage was very cosy, (and the bedrooms are upstairs and the bathroom down a spiral staircase, just in case thats important), it is beautifully done and very comfortable.
It would be perfect for one, or two, couples and is ideal for a touring holiday of the Cotswolds, being situated as it is just 7 miles south of Stratford-on-Avon. Because there are so many things to do nearby, we visited about 8 National Trust or English heritage properties during our 5 day stay, and went to the RSC twice.
It has a real country cottage feel, and everything you could need for a comfortable stay, and was surrounded by real thatched cottages!!
Gill and Ian were the perfect hosts, and very kindly phoned round to access an evening meal for us on our first night.
We loved our stay and would highly recommend this cottage.
Thank you Gill and Ian.
Thank you for taking the time to write a few words about The Cottage. It is in a wonderful location, both for visiting Warwick Castle, Stratford upon Avon, Oxford etc, or just to appreciate the beauty of the. Cotswold Villages nearby. We like to make our guests feel welcome & relaxed, hoping they will return home & spread the word of what a fantastic holiday home they have found! See you again soon.

"Perfect setting for Christmas"
My husband and I stayed at the Cottage for Christmas week and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The cottage was just right for our needs, cozy, comfortable and inviting after days of exploring the area. It was convenient to area attractions and great as a base for exploring Stratford Upon Avon. We would definitely recommend the Cottage.
We are so pleased you enjoyed Christmas at The Cottage in Armscote. The log fire stove invites you to relax at the end of a busy day, & regardless of the weather, there is always plenty of things to do & see in this area, knowing that you will have a warm comfortable Cottage to come back to. We welcome guests at any time of the year & would love to see you here again sometime soon.

"A lovely cottage for couples and families situated in a very pretty village"
Although quite small, the cottage was very clean and comfortable and ideally situated for many places of interest. The extensive courtyard and lawns provide an excellent space for the children to play, and for any entertaining. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

"Perfect spot for a mother-and-daughter break."
The cottage is charming and very well equipped, and Armscote was a good base for exploring Shakespearian locations and the Cotswolds. The nearest town, Shipston on Stour, was attractive and we had a good meal at the White Hart, Newbold. Our hosts kindly offered to drive us there and back which was much appeciated! We particularly enjoyed Warwick. Everyone seemed very pleasant, and we loved Lord Leycester's Hospital, an ancient half timbered structure, and Hill Croft, a set of charming Victorian gardens near the racecourse. Another delightful garden was reached down Mill Street (I think) with spectacular views of the Castle.

What a wonderful quiet, clean, comfortably and peaceful cottage. From the minute we walked in we felt at home. The cottage is a real good base to explore the heart of England. We went to lots of great houses and gardens - with a membership of the National Trust for one week - and our time weren't long enough to see everything we wanted. Stratford-Upon-Avon is a nice little town and we enjoy everything of Shakespeare.
Me and my nineteen-years-old daughter enjoyed the wifi-internet at the cottage, it helped us to stay in touch with our friends. And we used it as well, for instance to check if the less well-known gardens were open.
All in all, we wished we could have stayed longer and I hope I can come back.
We are so pleased you enjoyed your time spent at our Cottage. It is a character property with that 'homely' feel & so cosy during winter months too. We'd love to welcome you back again at any time of the year. There's always something new to see & do in this beautiful area.

"cosy cottage with fire- excellent!"
We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage. We had been quite nervous about travelling with a young toddler, so this was just what we needed. A self catering cottage, two good sized bedrooms, a lounge with a fire, a dining room, kitchen and bathroom.
Great for families, as Ian and Gill were so welcoming.
I would highly recommend this cottage to couples or families as a fantastic, cosy retreat.
Many guests enjoy the beautiful gas-log fire. It is so like the real thing, gives out terrific heat, & is instant! Just perfect for the holiday maker. As you say, our location is very peaceful & ideal for small children. We enjoy seeing families relaxing & having fun here, even helping collect eggs from our chickens.

"Staying in a fairytale Cottage"
For us, visiting The Cottage in Armscote Village was like an epic journey back in time. In the day light, the place is fantastic, but when the Sun goes down, there comes the night and every little thing become magic in this land. A mystic darkness then lay on the village, and the complete silence makes the time stands still. Because we used to take regular walks around the village before going to bed, taking deep breath of fresh air, we have had here the best sleep (and dreams!) ever!
We initially booked 1 week, but it was sooo hard to leave, as we asked for an extra one.
We feel lucky it was made for us to meet such a great people like the owners.

"A wonderful base to explore Stratford and surrounding areas."
We stayed at New Manor Farmhouse for 7 nights with our two young sons (6 and 7) and could happily have stayed for another 7! The cottage was spotlessly clean, warm comfortable and well equipped. We were fortunate to have warm weather and spent the week visiting Stratford, Warwick Castle and the Cotswolds. We were warmly welcomed by the owners Gill and Ian Plank who were happy for our boys to play on their scooters in the courtyard and run around freely. Armscote is a small village with a pleasant pub (although expensive for food). It proved an ideal base for exploring. I would thoroughly recommend visiting all of Shakespeare's houses - there were plenty of activities for the children at each house. Mary Arden's Farm is a must as is Warwick Castle. We also enjoyed visiting the Butterfly Farm at Stratford and the car museum and model village at Bourton- on-the-Water. We had a very relaxing holiday and hope to return.
