Struain Cottage is over 100 years old. It has been refurbished using traditional materials and is at the foot of Knocklayd on a quiet country lane. With a partially enclosed garden and magnificent countryside views, Struain is a quiet haven , for artists, hillwalkers , yet only 10 minutes from Ballycastle and the sights of the Antrim Coast.
It is within 20 miles of all the "must see " sights including The Giant's Causeway, Carrick-a Rede Rope Bridge, Dunluce Castle and The Glens of Antrim. Boat trips around the coast, golf, horseriding, history and heritage can all be sampled in the area not forgetting traditional pubs, music and "craic" !

The County Antrim region
Take the magnificent Antrim Coast road to Struain Cottage which is within a half-hour's drive of the “must see sights” that the Antrim Coast has to offer. The Giant's Causeway, Bushmills Distillery, Dunluce Castle, Whitepark Bay, Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge, Ballintoy, Ballycastle and the magnificent Nine Glens of Antrim, fabled in legend and song. The picturesque seaside towns of Portrush and Portstewart with their excellent surfing beaches and the shopping towns of Coleraine and Ballymena are also within easy reach. The charming villages of Cushendall and Cushendun situated at the foot of the Glens are close by and a must see.
Rathlin Island is only a short boat trip from Ballycastle but seems like a world away.
County Antrim hosts a range of special events including The “North-West 200”, Armoy Road Races, The Oul Lammas Fair, Heart of the Glens Festival, The N.Ireland International Air Show, golfing and tennis tournaments also take place on various dates throughout the summer.
Ballycastle is a charming and traditional Irish seaside town, with a variety of interesting shops.Play golf on Ballycastle or Gracehill 18 hole Golf Courses, both within 6 miles... or travel half an hour to Royal Portrush. Take a boat trip to Rathlin Island ... Surf the waves at Portrush and Portstewart. Fishing and pony-trekking are also available nearby. In the evenings, enjoy traditional music and “craic” in some of Ballycastle's oldest pubs.

"beautiful rural ireland"
sat nav essential as cottage is remote.Iam originally from N Ireland and the landscape here took my breath away… More

I'm glad that you enjoyed the rural views which are indeed spectacular.Yes, a Sat Nav is useful, but while the cottage is rural it is not that remote, being just 6 miles from Ballycastle and all the "must see" places are within 20 miles.
