Armona has some of the finest beaches in the Algarve. About this location
The Algarve region
The Algarve is famous for guaranteed sun and wonderful beaches. The Ria Formosa is a protected NaturalPark full of amazing wildlife and flora. For example Europe's largest seahorse colony can be found there. East Algarve remains very Portuguese. Olhao is a working fishing town of 10,000 people. The historic centre has beautiful mosaic streets with many cafes and bar and a daily fish, meat and vegetable market. Tavira is a short drive or train ride away and Seville is only 90 minutes.
A fifteen minute ferry ride from Olhao is Armona. In high season the ferry runs hourly. Armona Island is a car-free island. Guaranteed sun and beautiful beaches make it a truly relaxing holiday. There are four bar restaurants at the bottom of the island one in the middle and one at the top. From top to bottom is a fifteen minute walk. The beach stretches for for miles along the west side of the island. The sea is warm and there are plenty of spots away form the crowd. The front beach is cordoned off and has life-gaurds. It is very safe.
