This where you can sample the typical portugese foods cooked in the portugese style and taste the fresh sardines cooked on an open fire rangejust moments out of the sea.The other side is the modern version with its ultra modern apartments and international restaurants from all over the world and its beautiful beach. The area of pera has an international sand festival which is held every year and artists from all over the world take part and build the sand sculptures.There is also the zoo marine which has interactive dolphins and numerous water slides.Then theres daily boat trips along the algarve coast for fishing or dolphin watching.The famous aqua show is only down the road and also aqualand which is the largest water park in the algarve an has been open for 20 years.There are boat trips for the thrill seekers or cave boats showing you the hidden beaches dotted along the coast and the pirate ship that does half day trips or full day trips just for the youngsters.The roman ruins are in vilamoura and are dated back to the 2nd century and you can see the influnce of the moors in the buildings and streets.The vinyard of cliff richard is only minutes away have a day trip and see sir cliff and taste his wines.Every july there are music festivals and DJs from all over the world come to play their music on the beaches free for the people.
