The Algarve region
Algarve. Wherever you look, the colours of the mountains and sea are always with you. The region is an extensive and pleasant one, with a Mediterranean climate, marked by the smell of the sea and the scent of wild flowers. The Algarve is composed of some of Europe's most beautiful beaches, from where you can admire the rocky coastline and the playful shadows they cast on the sand.
After the enchantment of the landscape, you can discover the aromas and flavours of the traditional Algarve cuisine. The menu may consist of fish and shellfish, with such dishes as caldeirada de peixe (fish-stew) or cataplana de amêijoas (clams steamed in a copper pan).
Only a step away from the tranquil peace of the inland region is the excitement of the Algarve nightlife. Bars, discos, marinas and casinos guarantee visitors the very best kind of merrymaking.
The region's built heritage is something you cannot afford to miss. The architecture of the whitewashed houses, with their brightly-coloured mouldings and remarkably beautiful chimneys, the church belfries and the museums, all reveal particular memories of the ancestors of the Algarve people and help to make this such a special destination.
Armacao de Pera
Armacao de Pera is one of the oldest established resorts, having developed from the collection of fishing huts which originally decorated this beautiful stretch of coastline. The peak season, from July until September are so popular due to the magnificent climate. Average temperatures are above a blissfully warm 27°C for the entire time. Family holidays and couples wishing to have a memorable beach holiday in self catering Armacao de Pera accommodation, slightly away from the huge crowds are in luck. Average temperatures from May until the beginning of November are still above 21°C. In the evenings, the beach front restaurants fill the air with the flavours of local Algarve flavours, of which the fish is especially worth trying. After diner there are some great little bars and clubs to be found, which are great fun, especially during peak season.
- Aqualand (http://www.aqualand.pt/) a new fun packed water extravaganza for the whole family.
- Zoomarine (http://www.zoomarine.pt/) an enriching family experience where you can swim with dolphins and contribute to the conservation of marine wildlife.
- Fiesa a local sand sculpture festival where you can enjoy art.
- The golf courses of Vilamoura, Vilasol, Salgados.
- Algarve Shopping
All of these are a short car ride away.

"Superb holiday. Great villa, great location, would recommend it to anyone."
the villa is situated on a large complex, with good facilities. The complex has access to a lovely beach, which is 5 minutes walk from the villa. There are 3 pools, which are clean and well maintained. The villa is clean and provided us with a home from home. The owner was really nice to deal with, and even rang to make sure that everything was OK for us when we arrived. I would recommend this villa to anyone, and we will certainly go back.

"Our own little Villa on the coast of Portugal"
When I booked the apartment and I started to read more about the resort I got a bit worried if I had made the right decision. Once we got there and we opened the door I knew I was more than right. The place is huge and beautiful with everything we needed. There was even olive oil and spices, shampoo, body gel... The living area opened all the way up to a beautiful terraza with a 8 person table and chairs, BBQ, lawn chairs to lay in the sun. The best time for sun at the apartment is the morning, early afternoon as you are drinking your coffee thinking about if you're going to visit the resort's private beach or use one of the 3 pools or even do water aerobics class (which was a blast). We parked our car in front of the house. I plan to return again. Very well worth the money. SOme resorts were further back and I saw tons of people walking to the beach. We were ON the beach!! We didn't use the internet at the house but the reception and pool area had it for free. So, we went there. Plus if you arrive late, the pool bar serves bar food until late.

"Spacious, clean apartment in a lovely resort"
We stayed at the Casa Vila Senhora da Rocha for 1 week in late September/early October. We found the rental to be spacious, clean and with everything you need for a holiday with children. The terrace area was nice for al fresco dining and we used the BBQ almost daily. The 4 pools are about a 5 minute walk away and we spend most days there and the children loved it. We also spent plenty of time on the beach, which took a 10 minute walk, bearing in mind we had 3 children 4yrs and under and a whole load of stuff to carry! There is a large, very reasonably priced supermarket 5 minutes walk away. We tended to avoid the resort mini market as it was expensive as you might imagine. We didn't venture out into Armacao de Pera so I cannot comment on what this was like as a resort, but if beach and pool is what you are looking for then this is certainly a very lovely place to visit. We would recommend visiting the Fiesa sand sculpture place in Pera - which was amazing, and also ZooMarine Park. All in all, we had a lovely chilled out, relaxing holiday in a really lovely home.
