Home description
Large airy vacation apartment especially suitable for children, with shared pools, 5-6 minutes' walk from town centre/beach/shops. This spacious apartment is cool and comfortable inside when it's hot outside in the day or the evening, and is particularly well-suited for families with young children with the children's pool being safely located in the secure gardens of the complex, while at the same time being just minutes away from one of the Algarve's most beautiful beaches. South facing, the apartment has two spacious fully-fitted bedrooms, one with dressing room and en suite, both of which have patio doors onto the sunny balcony overlooking the pools and gardens. The living room also has two patio doors onto the balcony again overlooking the pool, as well as sliding patio doors onto a large shady terrace which continues from the balcony. Here you can enjoy a cool glass of wine or eat al fresco at the terrace table. There are also sun loungers, and further furniture. There is a fully fitted kitchen, with all necessary kitchen equipment. Also, rooftop terrace with lovely sea views, where you can take a bottle of wine to enjoy magnificent sunsets over the hills behind the town, and a large secure underground car park.

The Algarve / Central Algarve region
This is the sunniest region in Europe, averaging over 3000 hours of sunshine each year therefore a truly year-round destination especially popular with golfers and families. In fact the summers are rarely stifling because of the lovely sea-breezes coming off the Atlantic, yet the winters are much milder than the Spanish Costas for example. The Algarve is famous for its beautiful clean sandy beaches and small rocky coves which are a paradise for children and adults. The region is famous for its food, in particular, sea food and expect to be overwhelmed by the sheer number of good, cheap restaurants and cafes all serving freshly caught fish dishes.
Armacao de Pera area
The apartment is just five minutes walk from the old town where shops, bars, cafes and restaurants are found, and the beach which runs along the coast east and west from the apartment's location. There are also some supermarkets, a service launderette and most other services and facilities again within a few minutes' walk. Armação de Péra has one of the longest beaches on the Algarve - over two miles long with all the usual beach facilities and attractions that you would expect of a bustling Algarve resort.. To the east of Fisherman’s Beach, the cliffs stop and instead the beach, Praia Grande, backs onto dunes. Behind the dunes, and visible from the apartment, is the Salgados nature reserve, with its sand dunes which are a carpet of colour in spring with over 100 species of wild plants. Behind the dunes are salt marshes, lagoons, and rich and varied waterfowl, all spread over four or five square miles. This stretch of the beach, starting just 6 minutes’ walk from the apartment, is much quieter than the main town beach. Other places to Visit:- - Water parks are everywhere, but Aqualand, a giant water park set among lawns and palms with a huge array of pools and slides, in Alcantarilha just three miles away, claims to be the Algarve’s biggest. There’s a regular dedicated bus which stops a few minutes walk from the apartment either once or twice a day depending on the day and time of year. - Zoomarine, part zoo and part theme park with amazing shows and much more is five miles away at Guia... - as is the Algarve’s newest and largest shopping centre with hypermarket, 10-pin bowling, over 130 shops and 30 restaurants as well as nine cinemas showing the current releases in English. - Albufeira about 8 miles east and Portimao about 12 west are much livelier and if you are into clubbing, you might want to take a taxi ride to either of these.
GOLF. Armacao is right in the centre of the Algarve so all the famous courses east and west are easily reached within 30 minutes' drive. With over 20 nearby courses there's a superb variety of year-round golfing. Salgados Links and Gramacho are the closest courses, both just a few minutes away by car. Most of the courses have websites through which you can book tee-off times and hire clubs to avoid having to bring your own clubs on your flight. This is the website for Salgados Links http://www.nexus-pt.com/salgados/welcome.htm . Salgados Links is right in the middle of the lovely nature reserve near the apartment, so has plenty of natural lagoon water hazards to negotiate. Vale de Milho Golf Course is a lovely 9 hole course designed by Dave Thomas the Ryder Cup player and is 6km away. Carvoeiro (2 courses) and Penina (3) are 10-15 minutes' drive west and the 11 international courses at Vilamoura, Quinta do Lago, and Val de Lobo are about 20 minutes' drive east. .
How to get there
* Fly from most UK and other airports to Faro. Vila Nova is about 50 km / 30 minutes along the coastal A22 motorway by car - for cheap last minute deals try www.skyscanner.net * You can get very cheap car hire from the airport, try www.carrentals.co.uk or www.airauto.pt from which in summer 2006 we got a compact 4 seater for about €12/day - cost now in the region of €15 - €25 per day. * If you don't want to drive, book a taxi via www.faroairporttransfers.com which provides a return taxi for about €85 if you book both journeys at the same time. * Buses run from Faro also and to and from all destinations along the coast, and local taxis are cheap too.
