The Argyll and Bute region

We are on the West Coast of Scotland , in the county of Argyll. We are just about three hours North of the center of Glasgow, and Edinburgh. Argyll , is derived from the Gaelic ' Earraghaidheal'....which means ' the Coast line of the Gaels '.

Melfort Pier & Harbour is located on the sea Loch of Melfort.

Argyll country roads offer spectacular scienery , but park at parking places to enjoy the vieuws of the hills, forest, staning stones and small villages. Oban is our nearest town, just 16 miles , North of Kilmelford.

It is a very historical town with lots of history. In 1308 the last Scottish Gaelic parliament met at Ardchattan Priory.

The oldest surviving building is Dunollie Castle in Dunstaffnage, just north of Oban and well worth a visit.

Oban is the gate way to the outer Isle. There is the whisky distrillery, an 18 hole golf course, 32 restaurants, supermakets and plenty to shops.
