The Canary Islands region

Gran Canaria promises year-round warm and dry weather, great beaches, great food and great people - basically a great holiday destination.

Gran Canaria is the third largest of the Canary Islands, situated off the African coast in the Atlantic Ocean between Tenerife and Fuerteventura.

Gran Canaria is well established as a favorite holiday destination among Brits and Scandinavians, with developed holiday resorts in the south, and the bustling capital of Las Palmas in the north.

There are beautiful beaches around the south coast mixed with charming fishing villages, local markets and shopping centers.

Gran Canaria offers consistantly great weather, giving it all-year-round appeal.

In the mountains in the centre of the island you will find breathtaking views with 'vistas' across to Tenerife, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote, together with lakes, woodlands and cosdy small White washed villages.

Gran Canaria will suit any age group, there is as much or as Little to do as you wish for. Enjoy thittle Pearl in the Atlantic ocean.

Arguineguin is a small fishing village which has remained untouched by the Canarian tourism. It lies on the southern coast of Gran Canaria and still oozes a tipical Canarian atmosphere.

There are a few holiday hotels to be found here however the people you meet in the streets, the market squares and in the shops are mainly locals or Winter residents from the north of Europe.

The seafront here is perfectly tranquil although you won't see many sunbeds or wartersports hire here (nearest watersport rental 3 km).

Having said that, thisdoes add to the serenity of Arguineguin beach. In the town centre you will find a small fishing port where you can watch the local fishermen bringing in todas catch.

There are several tapas bars and intimate restaurants, many of them with views across to Tenerife and the sunset beyond.

On Tuesdays the largest market on the island takes place herer, with a variety of stalls selling ítems ranging from fresh fruit and vegetables, local handcrafts, handbags, clothes, souvenirs and much more.

Arguineguin is a fantastic 'spot' fro a truly Spanish holiday experience, yet only a 5 min. taxi ride away from the holiday resort of Puerto Rico (approx. 5,00 euros).
