Home description
Wa have knocked down a few walls to create an open plan downstairs space of lounge, dining and kitchen. There is a separate downstairs cloakroom. We feel we have provided all of the necessary furnishings needed for a comfortable holiday. From the kitchen, french doors lead out onto a walled outside eating area and large terrace, which in turn faces south onto our walled garden. Here there are 2 outbuildings, 1 is the laundry room and the 2nd houses the garden furniture and BBQ Upstairs we have 2 double bedrooms, 1 twin room, 1 bathroom and 1 showeroom. These rooms are again well furnished. Our house is situated in a mediaeval village called St Marcel on the outskirts of Argenton sur Creuse. In recent months the commune has spent a lot of time and money in restoring parts of it as the whole commune is a conservation area. The village itself and Argenton are well worth spending some time visiting the museums and just walking around the streets and by the river. There are lots of places of interest to visit and a compilation of these is left in the house for guests information.

The Loire Valley / Indre region
The Loire Valley, famous for 2 things Chateaus and Wine. This says it all, there are so many places to visit again a tourist information pack available in the house. If you want a day out with the kids then there is Futurscope closed to Poitiers and about 1hr+ from St Marcel
Argenton sur Creuse / St Marcel area
Please have a walk around St Marcel itself one day or evening, it is a conservation village and a leisurely stroll is a delight, there is an art/ sculpture gallery/museum with its own cafe and of course the village bar is literally on its doorstep. We are on the edge of the Brenne National Park which is home reputedly to a thousand lakes, this is a beautiful area for walking and cycling. There are many towns of interest and beauty and quite a few do have a chateau in varying sizes believe it or not! Obviously restaurants abound and you can make a choice between cheap and cheerful ( with surprisingly good food) to haute cuisine, bearing in mind this is France so the food is always good. Local markets display an excellent array of local fresh produce in Argenton on a thursday and a saturday, it is quite easy to end up spending several hours here just looking, tasting and buying. Whichever direction you wish to take if you love France then you will love this lovely unspoilt scenic area. I have left a dossier of places of interest to visit in the house.
