About the home
"L'eau jolie" is a recently renovated rural cottage, set in beautiful countryside, within sight and sound of the river
Creuse. Downstairs is a large room for kitchen/dining and casual seating, a sitting-room (with flat-screen
satellite English TV, DVD player, books, DVD's, games and puzzles) and a shower-room with basin and toilet.
Upstairs are two good-sized double bedrooms, and a small bedroom with two single bunk beds. There is also a small room off the main bedroom with a wardrobe and washing machine. Less than one minute's walk away is a lovely area of the river set up for recreational swimming alongside a long stretch of parkland with play equipment and a kiosk. A canoeing and kayaking launching point can be found at this spot in the river, as well. Fishing is also permitted in this area. Walking and hiking is also very popular, with marked walking tracks throughout the countryside - one going past the cottage.
Argenton-sur-Creuse, a pleasant and interesting Medieval market town with all amenities, is less than 7kms away, but about half-way into town is a large supermarket with fuel supply, and also a nearby laundrette. (The baker's van stops at the cottage every mid-morning, with fresh bread, croissants and pastries... listen for the horn!)

Excellent communication from start to finish. Sarah was lovely and waiting to greet us when we arrived after a long journey . The cottage was lovely, clean , comfortable and contained everything necessary for a lovely week away Fantastic location , quiet but only a minutes walk to the river for swimming and canoeing lovely bar and play area for my youngest daughter . All my children and my husband had a go in the canoes Only a short car journey to town and the nearest supermarket. Lovely restaurants I cant really say what I liked best as we enjoyed it all equally . The only slight downside is the bathroom being downstairs but this was minor and didn't affect our enjoyment |

What a charming little house, full of original features with some welcome modern additions like a shower and washing machine. A perfect location in a quiet hamlet with fantastic access to the gentle river behind which we used everyday with our canoe to watch the wildlife go by. All the usual shops and cafes are just a short drive away in Argenton but the little bar on the green next door was open everyday we were there and served as a welcome bit of shade with a cold beer, rose or ice cream between swimming and canoeing sessions. The restaurant just accross the river was busy everyday so book if you want to try it out, we were just happy to sit on the patio each evening and soak up the stars and the peace and quiet. The freesat and modern tv and dvd kept the kids out of the noon sun and meant we could watch the Olympics as well. The neighbours are all so friendly with every passing tractor driver waving a jolly bonjour. We recommend all those who like the simple life of rural France to try a week or two in this lovely little house. We have already passed on the details to our friends. Vic and Wilma are so eager to make your stay as comfortable and easy going as possible and Sarah is always on hand if you need any advice or help. |
