Home description
Le Peuch is a recently refurbished house on the edge of the village of St Martin la Meanne in the hilly and lush landscape of the Dordogne. A five minute walk takes you to the centre of the village which has a small general store/bakery, post office, three restaurants and a bar.
The gite benefits from its own private pool, with a shallow end perfect for the children. Leading from the garden room is a spacious terrace, furnished with a table and chairs to enable you to dine al fresco. With two double, one twin bedroom, and one single bedroom, the gite is ideal for families, with plenty in the surrounding area to see and do during your stay.

The Limousin / Auvergne / Correze region
The house lies on the road between Argentat and Marcillac la Croisille in the Dordogne valley in the department of Correze, Limousin.
Limousin lies in the heart of France on the Western side of the Great Massif Central, sharing borders with the regions of Poitou-Charentes, the Loire and the Auvergne - which is also steeped in history.
Argentat / St Martin la Meanne area
A five minute walk will take you into the centre of the village of St Martin la Meane which has a general store/bakery,post office, hairdressers a couple of restauants and a bar . The village also has a sports complex with outdoor and indoor pools, tennis courts and play areas.
A fifteen minute drive will take you to the picturesque village of Argentat on the Dordgone river itself. Here you can enjoy a meal, ice cream or coffee in one or the many cafe's along the river. You will also find many shops of various sizes, swimming complex and water sports, horse riding,fishing.
Brive la Gaillarde is about 45 minutes drive away and is well worth a visit with its grand churches and impressive buildings plus a very range of shops and restauants.
Tulle and St. Junien are also places of interest.
How to get there
The house is situated approximately 13 km from the town of Argentat on the D18. An 85 minute drive from Limoges airport and 2 hours from Rodez airport. Both airports have a good choice of car rental firms. The house is located 550 miles from Calais and the autoroute can be used for a large percentage of the journey.

When we walked into your kitchen, we instantly felt at home. You've done a lovely job of refurbishing the house. We all had a lovely holiday, it did us all the power of good. We were thoroughly relaxed right from the beginning of the holiday. It was very hard to leave on Thursday, after sitting on the patio, eating French bread, pate and cheese We thought the area was stunning. We just had to stop at the lakes to do a photo shoot. We would recommend going to Sarlat, Rocmador, and enjoy lunch by the river at Argentat. With the added bonus of travelling to the places through such lovely scenery. - September 2009
We had a fantastic holiday thank you. As our girls are now all but grown up this was probably our last family holiday and it was lovely that it went so well. We had a couple of wet days, one of which it never stopped raining so we didn't venture out which was a good excuse to sit and read! Otherwise the weather was fantastic. We thought the house was lovely, very spacious and well kitted out. The village was what we like - quiet, non-touristy etc. The epicerie was good, very welcoming ladies in there and most things available, if a bit pricey. Thank you so much for renting us your house, we had a fabulous time! We were really lucky with the weather, only a couple of storms, both during the night. We spent lots of time enjoying the pool and the utter peace and tranquility of Le Peuch! We had a great time canoeing down the river, had a fantastic meal down on the Quai and enjoyed Roccamadour, though it was 40 degrees when we got there! The people who looked after us for you were lovely, the house was spotless when we arrived (we hopefully left it as spotless). Thank you again for a fabulous holiday, I hope you continue to have many happy hours there yourselves - August 2009
