The Languedoc-Roussillon / Pyrenees-Orientales region

Situated at the extreme south of France near the Spanish border, the "Pyrenees-Orientales" area is edged both by the Mediterranean Sea and the Pyrenees up to 3,000 metres displaying gorgeous landscapes and beautiful villages such as Collioure, Castelnou, Eus...

Thanks to an exceptionally sunny climate, it is a real Garden of Eden, characterised by an abundance of excellent fruit and vegetable, top quality wines known all over the world.

The Catalan culture has a strong influence on people's way of living: folkloric dances, Catalan language, snail babecures, local gastronomy combining fish fromt he Mediterranean Sea and ground products with a spicy touch.

It is a land of historical and cultural heritage with a great diversity of landscapes and cultural events: the eldest European rests (450,000 years old) found in a cavern near Tautavel, castles and medieval villages classified as some of the most beautiful in France, a dozen of natural reserves...

Perpignan: the largest town in the PO with great historical monuments, such as the Castillet and the "Palais des Rois des Majorque" (Palace where Kings of Majorca spent a part of the year in past centuries), the Campo Santo, the Cathedral Saint-Jean, etc... Numerous cultural events both in Perpignan (Palais des Congres) and in the whole area.

Argeles / Sorede area

Located in peaceful and green surroundings, Sorede is a village which has managed to keep the charm and authenticity of the Catalan spirit being dynamic, welcoming, and lively. With its exceptional geographical situation (7km from the beaches and right at the foot of the "Alberes" massif), it is an ideal spot for vacations.

> Average altitude: 48m (My house in les Alberes: 170m)
> Average temperature: 27C in summer, 6.5C in winter
> Average distances: Perpignan (22km), Meer Sea (7km), Berge (99km), Spain (19km)

A natural frontier between France and Spain, these foothills of the Pyrenees are dominated by the Pic du Neaulous (1,260m) and the signal towers of the massane, the Madeloc as well as the ruins of the Carroig tower situated further south.

Sorede, a charming village situated in a quiet, green location, at the foot of the Alberes Massifs, facing the infinite Mediterranean Sea. Here you will find dynamic and festive holidays all year round. Visit the factory, the only one of its kind in the world, that makes whips in European hackberry wood, its "Olivette" Museum, its Valley of the Tortoises, its Romanesque church dedicated to Saint Assiscle and Saint Victoire. Wander through its sunny streets with the "discovery of the village" walk, its rambling trails and the exceptional pannoramic view fromthe hermitage Notre Dame du Chateau with ruins of a solar oven. In the Lavall valley - a cool, fresh oasis - enjoy a walk along the waterside and admire the church and taste some pancakes.
