This unspoilt typically French/Catalan village is located in the foothills of the Pyrenees, close to the villages of St. Andrè (St. Andrew) & Laroque des Albères. It has a thriving local community and the majority of the homes are owned by people who live and work in the area. Throughout the year there are festivals of all kinds which are run for the entertainment of the locals rather than being tourist attractions. That said you can expect the warmest of welcomes wherever you go.

The Languedoc-Roussillon / Pyrenees-Orientales region
Pyrenees-Orientales is a micro climate so is mostly good weather. The property sits under the pyrenees and is easily excessable from the patio. Pyrenees- Orientales backs on to the Spanish border and is Catalan in influence. The area was home to many famous artists and the nearby towns of Ceret & Colliure reflect this. The famous outdoor museum of Dali is just over the boarder into Spain. The area boast's many wine caves and fine eating establishments. The large town of Perpignan is a 20 min drive, this hosts many larger shops, fine buildings and museums. The medieval Cite of Carccasonne is a hours drive but well worth a visit. The many beaches in the area are three blue flag and the best on the coast.
Argeles / Sorede area
Valley of the Tortoises in Sorede is a must for anyone visiting the area. Colliure for the artistic shops and beautiful harbour. Ceret is an Aesthetically pleasing town full of art galleries and is the cherry capital of Europe. Falcons and eagles of Chateux Valmey in Argeles. In Sorede Marguex (restaurant) is a must to visit. Sking, water sports, horse riding, golf, montain biking, donkey trekking, water park and lots more. Many festivals throughtout the year.
How to get there
Fly Ryanair to Perpignan 35 minutes away. Carcassonne 1.5hrs. Montpellier 1.5hrs and Girona 60mins from Stansted or East Midlands or Liverpool. Fly Ryanair to Carcassonne from East Midlands Airport, Liverpool and Shannon EasyJet to Barcelona
Sorede is approximately 750 miles from Calais and a non-stop journey takes 13 hours or from Bilbao 6 hrs.
