Nestling in the beautiful Tuscan countryside Casa Gentili offers the discerning visitor to Italy quality and classic style. Casa Gentili combines the quality of a hotel with the flexibility of self-catering. The 'first' house of the area, many of the rooms feature decorative paintwork, while the spacious dining room features a wooden panelled ceiling.

Casas Gentili has recently been restored and provides spacious living areas, a beautiful terrace with views reaching across the valley providing the ideal base for a relaxing holiday in Tuscany, while within easy reach of all the principle Italian cities such as Florence and Sienna.

The Tuscany region

The area surrounding Caprese Michelangelo is rich with natural and historic gems often overlooked by the average visitor to Tuscany.

The property is 100 metres from a National way marked walk route, and a short distance from the National Park. Local Guides can provide guided tours of the surrounding countryside once rich in silver and copper deposits.

As well as providing an excellent environment for walking the surrounding hills also provide many of the local people with a range of local produce including mushrooms, truffles, chestnuts and wild game. Many of which can be enjoyed in the excellent local restaurants.

Oil and wine tastings are available at the local oil mill - one of the oldest mills in Italy. In late October/early November guests can enjoy the first pressings of the olives, with a glass of wine in front of a roaring fire.

Photographers will benefit from the beautiful spring and autumn light and the range of changing colours as the summer moves to autumn, and the land becomes a carpet of golds, reds, greens and browns.

Quiet roads make the area ideal for leisurely touring, day trips and exploring.

Arezzo / Caprese Michelangelo area

Within walking distance of the the house is the birth place of the great artist Michelangelo and the village of Caprese where during June, July and August guests can enjoy 'Dancing under the Stars', and the Chestnut Festival over the last two weekends in October. Caprese also has a number of restaurants and a pizzeria, in addition to a range of local services. A short drive, south, from the house is Sanseplocro, birth place of Piero Della Francesca; and the attractive walled town of Anghiari - described as one of the top 5 walled towns in Italy.

Approx 20 minute drive to the north is the monestary of La Verna where St Francis received his stigmata.
Within easy driving distance of the house are Arezzo; Florence, Sienna, Perugia and San Marino.

There are a number of local markets held throughout the week at the nearby towns of Pieve Santo Stefano, Sansepolcro, Anghiari and Citta Castello.

How to get there

The closest airports to the villas are Bologna Forli and Perugia both serviced by Ryanair. Other airports within travelling distance are Pisa, Rome, Rimini and Pescara.

Car hire is essential.

Recently restored, the property has modern spacious bathrooms. All showers are walk in showers.
In addition to sleeping 8 adults the property will accommodate up to 2 young children in cots.
The cots are provided, although we do not provide cot sheets and pillows.
Each bedroom has a hairdryer.
The price includes pool towels, dressing gowns, household essentials and a gourmet Welcome Basket complete with a range of refreshments, and if your party includes children we will include ice-cream and a few extras.
In addition to Casa Gentili we have an additional property an annex (Casa Rosa) which can accommodate an additional 6 people, the pool is shared with Casa Rosa.

We provide a range of CDs, DVDs, books, games and maps for guests use and enjoyment.

Both the manor and annex have full central heating for which there is no extra charge.

Further details outdoors:
The property has a large sunny terrace which over looks the swimming pool, which is accessed via a set of stone steps; and an orchard with a range of fruit trees including apples, pears and figs.

There are several seating areas for guests' enjoyment, including several on the terrace, a bench in the orchard in addition to the large portico area with direct access to the kitchen and terrace.

The swimming pool has a large patio area. A range of pool toys are provided.

BBQ coals are provided at a bag a day for guests' use.

Change over day is Saturday.
Short breaks during mid and low season are subject to availability.
For business use please contact the owners who also provide a range of management training courses.
A deposit of 30% is required with the booking the balance is payable 28 days in advance.
A Bond of £300 is payable with the balance under a separate cheque. The Bond will be returned within 14 days of your departure subject to inspection of the property.
Please advise of any special requirements in advance, especially if travelling with children.
Casa Gentili and Casa Rosa can be rented as separate units.
