Croci di Sopra is a lovely stone villa in a superb position with some of the best views Tuscany has to offer. The property benefits from a lovely well-planned, landscaped garden surrounded by olive groves and woodland. A short distance from the house is a large private swimming pool that has been cleverly incorporated into the landscape and boasts fantastic views of the 11th Century Castello di Sorbello.
Access to the property is via a private road.
The main bedroom suite has a sunken bath and a shower and its own private terrace with fabulous views over the Niccone valley. From the sitting room and hallway access can be gained to the shady terrace to the back of the house and there is access from the kitchen to a shady vine covered pergola to the front of the house which is furnished for outdoor dining. ( N.B. The swimming pool is unfenced)
The house is light and airy, the ceilings are all beamed, the bathrooms are clad in a beautiful Travertine Rosato, and the floors are cool terracotta tiling. The furnishings are a mixture of antique and contemporary.

The Tuscany region
30 minutes will take you to Lake Trasimino where Hannibal defeated the Romans 217 BC. this is a very lively place, with man made beaches, late night shopping and an excellent selection of fish and seafood restaurants with lakeside eating out. One may even take a boat trip to Isola Maggiore (briefly a refuge for St Francis,) famous for its rustic gardens, lace making and 12th century church.
In the other direction you can find the medieval town of Umbertide (10 mins drive), with local train station, Citta di Castello 20 mins, Sansepolcro 30 mins, each have a weekly market with fresh local produce and a barging to take home.
Arezzo area
Villa Croci di Sopra is nestled in the hills above the village of Mercatale di Cortona a 10 minuet drive away, with Lisciano Niccone a little further on, both villages offer local produce, bakery, supermarket, Butchers, Bank, petrol station, restaurants and bars. During the summer months there are many festa's and concerts held in the piazza all adding to the charm of the local area. A half hour drive will take you to the town of Cortona which boasts a host of architected and historical splendour including a 16th century dome and again all the necessary amenities including a main train station for day trips to Florence or Rome.
