Near Arezzo, Tuscany, Italy
Hilltop converted farmhouse and lodge with seven apartments sleeping 2 to 4 guests, with infinity swimming pool
Situated in the hills of the Valdarno Aretino, Casa Sara looks out over the valley of the Arno from a hilltop perch 600m up, offering a truly spectacular view to rival any in Tuscany.
An ancient but newly restored farmhouse and hunting lodge will be your refuge during a holiday spent amidst the property's vineyards, olive groves and fruit trees.
Flanking the farmhouse, a small consecrated chapel, still functional and dedicated to St. Clare, is a reminder that in earlier times Casa Sara was a place of gathering for farmers of the area. A few elderly locals still remember walking up to Sesta with their families, at threshing time, to celebrate mass in the tiny chapel.
The forty hectares of forest belonging to Casa Sara are part of a game reserve and a walk in the woods could mean an encounter with hares, pheasants, squirrels and deer.
Guests are also encouraged to relax at the pool, from which one can enjoy a magnificent panorama and spectacular sunsets looking out across the Pieve di Gropina.
The seven apartments - resulting from a careful rennovation of the farmhouse and hunting lodge - have been decorated and well equipped, with special attention being made to combine modern needs and comforts with the simplicity and fascination of styles from the past.
The farm of which Casa Sara is a part produces Red Chianti D.O.C.G., as well as white wine. During your stay you are invited to taste these and other farm products and take part in the more important moments of farm life: from the pruning of the olive trees in March, to the harvesting of fruit in summer, the grape harvest and vinification process in September and October, to the late autumn gathering and pressing of the olives for the production of olive oil.
Work began in 2002 to refurbish the farmhouse and hunting lodge and to restore them to their original splendour. The result is seven spacious and comfortable apartments.
Each apartment provides the right balance between modern comfort and traditional Tuscan style, evident in the wooden furniture and terracotta floors. The kitchens are equipped with all the necessary items required for preparing typical dishes of the region using local and genuine products. In addition, apartments Stella, Glicine, Lilla and Clematide each have a fireplace in the living area.
A centralized laundry room, available to all guests, is located on the ground floor of the hunting lodge.
Another feature available to guests is the barbeque next to the outdoor provisions shelter, for those who wish to enjoy an outdoor grill.
For more adventurous guests, it is also possible to use the wood-burning stove for those who wish to tackle the enterprise of baking pizza or breads.
Each apartment has an outdoor area with table and chairs for dining. Satellite TV is available in all apartments.
For those with special needs, the Guineé apartment that has been specifically equipped to accommodate disabled persons.
Our whole complex is surrounded by gardens, fruit trees and 40 hectares of woods, ideal for a vacation geared towards nature and sport.

The Tuscany region
Tuscany is home to many natural and cultural treasures which have secured its place in the heart of the discerning tourist.
Rolling hills, sweet rolling wooded hills and valleys, sunflower fields, rustic farmhouses. And cypress trees.
Thus the Tuscan landscape has conquered the world. And yet, the nature of Tuscany is more than this.
The surprise of snow-covered peaks, ponds and lagoons, Mediterranean underbrush that grows right out to the sea, woods and a countryside still marked by ancient farming practices.
Resolutely protected parks and reserves that are not oases in the desert but links in a network that covers all the environmental systems of the region: Apennines, rivers valleys, wetlands and coast.
The system of protected natural areas of Tuscanyincludes national parks, state and sea reserves, wetlands of international importance, regional parks, provincial parks, provincial reserves, protected natural areas of local interest.
Then there is varied Tuscan coastline with its long beaches stretching for miles.
Afamous coastline, framed by the superb arch of the Apuan Alps, the legendary mountains of white marble is worthy of the cover of travel brochures.
And not far from the world famous Leaning Tower, long sweeps of sand open up, but that is not all.
There is the sea, sand, pine woods and the Natural Park of San Rossore.
The winning ingredient in this recipe is nature, but your holidays will be what triumphs.
Maybe your imagination will be sparked up by the bays on the Etruscan coast. Maybe it will be the untamed vegetation and the blue waters of the Tuscan islands with the cliffs plunging into the sea.
The colours of the sunset will take you out of this world, far away from the drab and monotonous
everyday life. You still have the chance.
Argentario, where the intense green of the unspoilt Maremma countryside fades into the crystal blue waters of the sea. Dive into the archaeological sites of Etruscan memories. Or do you prefer to find your berth in the exclusive fashionable ports?
Thanks to its central position, Casa Sara is a perfect holiday base from which to visit the Tuscan art cities of world renown such as Florence, Siena and Arezzo, along with the possibility of discovering the more hidden and remote spots (but no less amazing) of Tuscany, rich with history and natural beauty.
During your stay, the owners can advise you on natural itineraries for either hiking or mountain biking, or historicaland gastronomic itineraries, which take you through breathtaking towns and countryside.
